This can be tossed into computers but right now I need help! How do you locate your IP address on your own computer? I need to know it for Norton internet security :whatgives

From Windows, click "start".
Then click "run"

Then type 'cmd' or 'command', depending or your OS.
When the DOS prompt comes up type "ipconfig/all" .

This will be ok if you have a 'static' ip address.

I found out my IP !!! YEAH..
Now norton needs my subnet mask #.. how do I figure that one out??

if you have aim, for future reference, you can get your ip from that too. just right click inside the text box of an im go to insert and then ip. the number that pops up is your current ip address.

If you followed Gareth's instructions, then you'll also see the subnet mask # listed about halfway down the cmd screen. It will be in octets, probably starting with 255, and look something like this: 255.255.255.000. Not exactly, of course, but look for that pattern.

some chat rooms will also display yer ISP when ya log on, iffen ya don't know how to find it.
