I think it's a bit rude that everybody thinks this site is just for the American pagans, I know it's not, but a post told me about just USA-pagans and I'm just from Finland, so you, non-Americans understand, maybe. I know most of the people on this site are from USA, and I've nothing against it, really, even though I do have an issue with Bush and people who support him, I know some of you don't (a few month's ago I read an article from Starhawk about Bush and how bad he is [some of you might agree with her and I suppose most of you do, not judging the ones who support him, because it's really nobody's business and so on, it doesn't make anyone less pagan and it doesn't make me like anyone less])

Mmm anyway, I'm not trying to start a fight, just reminding that some of us are not from the USA and I hope you'll remember that and think of us too :)

Blessed be, people!

" but a post told me about just USA-pagans"

I'm sorry to hear that. What post was it? I can assure you that the bulk of folks here realize that we have Pagan family all over the world.

Blessings,

I try to accomidate as many people in my discussions when I have one, but often my examples relate to just the local pagan community that I am familiar with, which is mostly US. It is pretty true that alot of non-US pagans view bush with distain and disgust. The news commentary I have read suggests that only a few countries really support his views.

I never forget that there are people here from other countries, just that american's are the majority. I also despise people who try to tell americans what is right for our country. You will never see me give a rats ass about elections in other countries. Sh*t, I didn't even care who won in Iraq, as long as it was someone they chose to lead them.

I believe I become more and more respectful here as time goes on.

I care who won in Iraq. But I don't care how other people run their elections, etc, as long as it isn't illegal.

may I ask why you are concerned with who won. We have no right to interfere with a government of the people. If the next person they elected were like Saddam I would be disappointed but I wouldn't care. If that is what the people there want, they can have it. As long as its a well regulated government, regulated by the people

I've always thought of MW as a global community, so much that I often think people are further from me, here in New York, than they really are. I once asked a woman via PM about her homeland of Australia. She reminded me that she lives in Colorado.

thats funny. I usually look at the location, although some give things like, on the planet, or in space, so that doesnt help :)

Now that I think about it, maybe it does become an issue when you venture into the political forum (and I call it a venture because when I go there, happily not often, I always wonder what I'm getting myself into!) I think the discussion has been really US-based, and I myself am interested in what's going on around the world. US politics doesn't interest me much... except the general trends.

If anyone wants to start a thread in the political forum talking about global (not US-specific) issues, I would be totally happy to contribute. Personally I'd much rather hear your opinions coming from Finland or Nigeria or Central America than hear Americans argue back and forth about Bush, or Schwarzeneggar running for President, or issues that non-Americans probably take no interest in. So please, I'd love to see you post.

I'm interested in the political/geographical polarisation of Canada (i.e. conservatives in the west, liberals in the east), the Quebec separationist movement, the rise of neo-fascism in Europe, the Zapatista movement in Mexico, the impact and future of the EU, worldwide environmental, indigenous and human rights, and energy politics... and many other global / non-US issues.

????? Really.... I never noticed. I mean, if a majority are from the US (I say if because I've never bothered to try to figure out what the global dynamics of the community are), then it would make sense that people talk about what goes on in the US. But, I've never seen anyone assume that a global community wouldn't have people from other countries. Just because we (meaning Americans) seem self-centered to the rest of the world, doesn't mean that all of us are... you know, since we're on the subject of generalization.

Acctually I'm usually surprised when I look at someones location and they're in the USA. I seem to see more foreign MW Members.

maybe it's to do with time of day that you're on.

I'm quite thrilled to see people from around the globe here and would love to see more posts to do with their countries. I don't really think of myself as an American anymore, just a human being that happens to be in this geopolitical entity.

Living in England for a year has made me realise all sorts of things about Americans in general. We tend to keep to ourselves and forget the rest of the world sometimes. It's not something any of us are proud of, really, and I can assure you that I am fully aware that the rest of the world goes on turning even while some of us are in our own little worlds. ;)

For me, it depends a bit on which thread I look at. Some of them have a very strong US feel to them (sometimes feel a bit guilty about joining in (but I do anyway...)), some of them it doesn't seem to matter where exactly you're from because the subject is more general.

Frankly I see all kinds of threads here on all types of subjects from all over the world. I don't see any focus on any one area at all. If you want to talk more about something related to your part of the world, post it! I am sure you will get just as many responses!

We have a lot of non-USA pagans here. (One whom I'm very much in love with) Don't feel like everyone on here is an American. You'd be suprised as to who is not. :)

I think it's a bit rude when people make vast generalizations about other people without a shred of fact or evidence, or perhaps based on the negative actions of one or two people.
