Hey,
I have a really hard time pricing my art work and i may be participating in an art show around april(lots of time for me to get paint to my elbows:):)). So im wondering if i show you guys 2 of my painting is you could help me price them? If possible tell me in canadian currency, and if to lazy to do the math(like i am) just let me now its american pricing. Thank you very much and here are two pics. they are both 14x18, first i have called passing and the second the boat man
ps. they look a bit differnt in person, my camera didnt pick up all the hues and changed some, but you get the idea.

First off all- nice paintings! The boat man is pretty cool- color is so hard for me to work with.
It's hard to say how much to price them at; I'm a cheapskate, so I wouldn't buy a painting for more than $20 (US), but some people will spend a lot more. Maybe if you try for $50- $100, it would go? I don't know. Good luck!

I like the 1st one. The tomb stones sightly visable.. Feels like im there.
I usually pay between $1.00 - $15.00 for paintings. I used to go to Auctions and thrift shops. Good Luck on your sales! _pounce_

First may I say...AWESOME WORK! Second I wouldn't take less than $50-$100. Always shoot higher and then if people want they can try and talk it down. I would most likely put a pricetag of $150 on it and see how much I could get for it. Can't hurt to try! :hehehehe:

Very nice. What's the medium? Oil on Canvas? Take into account your costs. I tend to think around the $75.00 to $150.00 per piece for original art, oil on canvas.

I sell my art too. I'm not sure what the market for it is like over there, or what media those paintings were done with, but here I wouldn't go under $80 AUD. Definitely not. Underselling yourself is really bad because it makes it harder to up your prices later if you start building a reputation. Don't worry about your age, just think about the work itself. And if your works don't sell, don't worry about it because sometimes it can take a while for something to sell. Don't let anyone discourage you!

you're only a year older than I am!!!
I wish I could paint like that!!!
seriously, they're worth at least $150 if not more... I buy a lot of artwork and you're pretty damn good! if you keep it up who knows how far you could push your talent!

Well its only acrylic so that would make it less cost than oil (i have a hard time with oil, fumes=migrain) but i know of artists that sell pencil crayon pictures so.. meh acrylics good.
LoL yea, depending on how i do in the art show i may just try to sell some off on here. *shrug* but thanks everyone for the compliments:D

Yeah, I dig the problem, artist tend to undervalue their own work significantly. For example, I made a wedding dress for a friend and at first was just going to ask $100 for it, but on further consideration I decided to charge $10/hour for labor, plus the cost of overhead, which worked out to about $500, she then decided that it was not enough (she is a good friend) considering that the ones she was looking at in stores which were similer, were priced at $1500 or so. I finally settled for $800. As for your work, which is really amazing, I would probably price around the $75-$100 range

I have a really hard time pricing my art work and i may be participating in an art show I asked about pricing art work at another forum was told to look at it this way: How much time did you put into? How much materials and supplies did you use? With these two things how much do you think it is worth. I am still working on some of my stuff but it helped.
I still cannot see hwo my sister though prices hers for 900 dollers or more, that sure would not be me. I would be just as happy to sell something to someoen who likes it for a resobale price then something that will not sell at all due to the price tag :D
