Romanians Tax their Witches
Romanian Councillors Charge Witches for Selling Spells

A town council in Romania has announced plans to tax its Witches, according to Ananova. The council of Deda in Mures county will levy a tax equivalent to just over £1 on its ten local Witches. The mayor Traian Pascan will use the money to assist Deda's underprivileged and disabled.

Deda's population of Witches are regularly called upon to cast spells for such things as revenge and success. They have also become something of a tourist attraction in themselves, attracting visitors who want to see a real, live Witch.

There's gotta be a law somewhere that says you can't tax someone on their religious beliefs??? I would think..or at least hope...

That's not cool...

well, they are not being taxed on their beliefs, so much as being taxed on their income... they perform spells as a service to their customers, and pocket the money under the table! just like the psychic hotline ladies here in the us, their income is taxed just like the rest of us!

they should seek a tax-exempt status and try to be recognized as a real religion!
