I am inspired to cast my first circle tonight. I woke up last night at 3:30 am with the words to invoke the elements and such just right there in my head. If that isn't an invite I don't know what is. I was tempted to do it right then but knew I wasn't ready.

So since we haven't gotten to it in class, I was wondering.....

How big should I cast my first circle? Is there such a thing as too big? Could it include my whole house?

Along the lines of another post below(at the time) I've heard not to dismiss the elements/gods. So what do you do to open the circle? Do you just bring down the walls or what?

Please help! i'd like to do it tonight.

Wow! What a great experience of having the inspiration and words given to you to call your first circle. I'm sure it will be a totally exhillarating experience for you!

As for your questions, how big is to big? That's up to you! I walk my circle, so making it my whole house would take a lot of time and energy, though it could be possible. I also personally don't like to have anything that is non-consecrated or blessed within my circle, and having to do that to every item I own would be rather taxing as well. But that's just a personal preference. I generally cast about a six foot sphere, but it's all in what you feel comfortable with. What's your gut say to do? I've always told my students that rule number one of learning magick/spells is to trust your gut, it won't lie even if your mind may try to.

Dismissing of the elementals and circle I posted on, so you can see what I said there. Again, it's all personal preference and what feels right to you.

You'll have to let us know how it goes!

Agreeing with Shatav it really is a matter of persoanl preference when it comes to the size of your circle. Depending on what I am working on I might cast a circle which is just big enough of for myself to fit into it. Then again, I might cast a 6 footer if I feel up to it.

You also have to go with the moment. Keep that in mind. If you are being led to perform a ritual in a certain way...then go with it.
