Which do you prefer working with Oracle decks or tarot decks and why?

I like them both. It depends on what I'm after which I will use. When I'm really out of sorts and need SOMETHING to move me out of my stuckness, I grab my Lakota Sweatlodge Oracle. This one will move a mountain out of my way.

For divination and such I prefer the tarot.

Tarot. It is the form of divination I use most often. I love it.

I'm generally low on funds (bills & crappy job) so when I say "I'm going to get a new deck" it usually means "in 6 months I'll have enough money to get a new deck".
That said, I haven't had a chance to scrape the money together for an oracle deck yet.
I've been wanting to get one, though. I think it would be good for personal use. i have a hard time doing tarot readings for myself, maybe an oracle deck would do the trick.

I prefer tarot decks overall. It is probably just because I am more familar with them and the artwork. I haven't yet found an oracle deck I really love in the same way I do many different tarot decks.

It really depends on the deck. For the most part I prefer Tarot decks, the structure is familiar, and while there is some variation, the Ten of Swords is the Ten of Swords is the Ten of Swords.... No matter the deck, the cards mean roughly the same thing.

But I do love the Faerie's oracle!

http://mysticwicks.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif I must confess, I love the fairy oracle!! I have used the Rider Waite Tarot for 22 years and it always worked well, but I never had this close bonded feeling with them. I tried many others through the years but compared to the Rider deck, they didnt respond as well.

Then I recently got the Fairy Oracle. It was my first time with Oricle cards and talk about a bond!!! They not only are more Talkative than my Rider deck, they bonded with me 100%. They call me and I 'feel' them. The Rider deck were just cards, tools, but the Fairy Oracle 'feels' alive to me!!!

I love my Fairy Oracle Deck!! http://mysticwicks.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Oh yes, they are very talkative! I gave away my Faeries' Oracle last summer, but I'm getting a new one soon :D

I don't use either much these days. When I was younger I had an Aquarian deck and the Rider's. I have an Angel deck now and they are okay but haven't used them in a long time.

I like both my decks. I don't know if I am allowed to respond because I am not in the Tarot Guild thingy but I do like both my decks one is a Fairy Oracle. and the other is a Shapeshifter. They are completely different from eachother, and yet the same. Hard to explain.

I'm fairly ew to divination. At present I have the Sacred Circle Tarot and am starting to finally feel a bond starting with it. But I have no clue about Oracle decks. Could someone please explain the difference between tarot and oracle to me? I've seen many oracle decks that I'd like to have but only because they were pretty, not because I know anything about them :whatgives

I voted Tarot, mainly because I've never used Oracle cards, and I do like the structure of Tarot.

Interesting thread Flaire. It's much more clear now......I think? LOL
Actually, I do think that I need to find myself a set of oracle (not the tarot type) cards and see if I connect any differently with them than I do my present tarot type.

Thanks Flaire :)

Oracle decks, deffiantely. Right now I'm loving the Druidic Animal Oracle deck which speaks to me more than my other tarot decks have, but I still feel like the perfect deck is still waiting somewhere, I still have to struggle a little with the meanings, though my readings have all been accurate, it's like I'm almost with the right set, but just not yet.

I use tarot because... well I don't have an oracle deck, but I'd like to get one eventually.
