OK As they roll the credits for another episode of Angel,

let's hear what you thought about a decision Angel made,
he went to the demon dimension and freed a prisoner in order to stop Wolfram and Heart from causeing Cordiella harm fromt he visions they were transmiting to her...

he frees the guy , returns him to wolf & heart, then he kills the kid who was harming Cordiella,

who thinks it could have been handled differently, and who thinks he did the right thing,

who could care less ?? LOL let me know

Well, Xander57, I do not have cable, here (as you know) we have to pay for even the basic channels (2,4,5,7,9,11 &13) and right now I just can't afford $30 a month on that:(

Ummm... I have cable, and I still wouldn't watch that. That's right on the Level with Charmed and Buffy as far as I am concerned. Personally, I'll stick with Sabrina, at least that show is FUNNY. :)

What happened on Angel???

That's Insane Troll Logic!

Really though, you know Angel loves the demon demention, because he fits in fine and dandy there, and he gets to play in the sunshine.. "Is anyone else amazed at how much fire I'm not on????" heh.. I guess it wouldn't be a Buffy show if he didn't have a funny way of saying things.. never mind he's supposed to be like 300 or something years old. Why does he talk like those dumb california kids??

As for killing the kid, well I think that's a good turn for Angel. He was headed in the right direction when he went on that killing rampage and fired his staff. He's gotta be a little evil, because if his karma goes too high he rolls around to complete evil. Sometimes, you can't feel guilty for killing the bad guy. Realizing that counts as valuable character growth IMHO.

Ill-- I think you got the wrong impression from the episode description. Angel didn't turn all evil. What happened was, Cordy was getting physically hurt from her visions-- slashed and burned and blistered. When Angel found out, Wesley asked the Host to trace her aura and see if he could find out why the Powers That Be saw fit to put Cordy in pain.

The Host found out that it was actually Wolfram and Hart that were giving Cordy the visions, in order to entice Angel to complete a mission for them. The mission was first to go against these good guys and retreive a coin and key, and then to enter a demon demension-- no sun there, btw :) -- with them and free this evil guy from the fire that he was eternally trapped in.

Guarding this guy was another good demon, who Angel had to knock out, remorsefully, after a short fight scene. They delivered the bad guy to Wolfram and Hart, the Wolfram and Hart guys made Bad Vision Dude heal Cordy, and then Angel killed Bad Vision Dude. Oh, and then we got a little crap about Darla going to a Shaman and the thing inside of her actually propelling the shaman back a few feet when he touched it and does anyone really care about that subplot?

Anyway, that's what happened. Unless you were being sarcastic about the whole 'watching Angel' bit. In which case, I was totally talking to someone else. *nods*

Ya know there is enough realism on the tube, and plenty of news about the terrorists, the weather, sports, etc.
Soooo whats wrong with alittle escaping to "Angel's" world, or
"Buffy's" world, or better yet meet me in "Cartoon" land.......
Yep' i'm plenty old enough to know this is mindless stuff, and
so what!!! I personally think my day is "full" enough of the "reality" we are supposed to be living in!
And i'm sure the folks who watch this "stuff" on the tube know
that it's for entertainment only!!
So ease back already, and let us "escapists" have our fun!
Blessings Ya'll,

I saw that show last night! I've never seen one before, so I was lost... Are they alwayse that dark? Does this Angel like Cordellia? I think he did the right think... though, who knows?

loopy
October 2nd, 2001, 07:14 PM
Sora-- that's pretty much the tone it always is. :) Angel feels protective towards Cordelia, but there's no romance there or coming, as far as I can tell. Especially since the love of his life just died (Buffy, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, premiering tonight at 9 on UPN). Angel's a spin-off of the show.

Yup you're in for it now :P

I just don't like Angel. I like Buffy - it's smart alecky, interesting, love and war and stuff, good zombie brain candy, if ya know what I mean. Angel just seems too forced, the humour isn't as witty or natural, it seems to try to hard. I rarely like spinoff shows :)

Willow and anyone else-- sorry to have spoiled Angel for ya; I shoulda put spoiler tags. D'oh! :(

I agree with Willow on your Buffy/Angel comparison. I barely watched at all last season, just turned it on this one out of habit.

For anyone who hasn't seen Buffy, I'm going to be discussing tonight's premiere, so back out now should ye choose. :)

**SPOILER**

I liked Witchy Willow's Wacky Hijinks. :) The ritual during the daytime was beautiful, until she, you know, killed the deer and all. But before that, I thought it was rather pretty and realistic.

Yay! to a show which continues to incorporate Goddesses and Gods. :D

Xander67-- what was so creepy about the ending for you?

I thought the whole thing was well done, thought out, if a little drawn out and predictable. No, wait, I think I read the spoilers for this episode... bah. The acting was good as always; I teared up when Giles and Willow were saying goodbye. *snuffle* I love me some Giles.

Well then at least you know why now they put it off considering Sept 11th

And spike and dawn? Hell NO, she's like 14, he's like a couple hundred years old. Besides that, even tho it's well known she had a crush on him, he's been looking out for her so carefully because of his love for buffy! Dude, last episode he cried for buffy, he wouldn't be thinking about boffing her little sister "Li'l Bit" a couple months later! Yeesh!

But they didn't push it back because of Sept. 11. It was originally scheduled to air next Tuesday, I think, and they even pushed it backwards earlier so they wouldn't have to compete with Gilmore Girls.

I think Spike's good for the long haul. It's really the only way to keep him on the show-- if he was all evil and killing everyone, Buffy would have to stake him. And everyone loves Spike too much for him to be killed. He brings in ratings, and he's good story fodder. He's interesting and has bite. (Heh. Couldn't help it.)

I really think if Buffy's dying didn't send him over the edge and back to evilness, nothing will.

Hey, I get it. :) Share your concerns, definitely. :) I wasn't agreeing with those specific concerns, but that doesn't mean I think they were stupid or that you shouldn't address them. :)

I have concerns of my own: I don't think Xander and Anya's marriage is going to go well, and I'm worried about how it would tear the group up if they broke up. Cordy was eventually pushed out, (or left) but in this case, Anya now runs their resource shop, so...

Also, how is the group going to fare without Giles around? Are they going to surprise us and shove Spike into sunlight one day? How's Dawn's school year going to go, considering her public humiliations last year? (the crying in the hallway, the stories about her cutting).

Are Willow and Tara still attending school? Shouldn't they be in college again by now? If they don't go back, are they forever going to harbor some sort of resentment towards Buffy for holding them back from their potential? Knowing their characters, I don't think so, but you never know.

Xander67

Dawn's reaction was completely normal...
I think her schoolmates will understand..

as for Anya,
she needs to be B**ch Slapped with a wet rubber chicken HARD in the mouth...

Buffy was laying on the ground and she was like,,OH guess what, and almost told her the news... GRRRRR no that marrage is NOT happening ...

heheh..Shoveing spike into the sunlight :p

well no I didn't think you were saying my comments were stupid, I mean as they were rolling the credits, and I was wipeing my eyes from the emotional shock...it was hard to think of it as "Just a show" :( :)

loopy
October 3rd, 2001, 12:26 AM
I wasn't saying I think Dawn's reaction wasn't normal-- but I don't think her schoolmates are as understanding as we'd like. They were all gossiping and whispering after they heard she cut her arm. She's fodder for the Gossip Fairy.

Anya can be coarse and annoying, and I don't get why she doesn't understand the ways of the world after living in it for thousands of years. That whole "Anya's new to everything" plotline is messed up.

I hear ya... when Angel was shoved into hell, I bawled my eyes out and refused to answer the phone. I've been watching these characters for six years now, it's hard not to get attached to them and react to their lives.

Xander67
October 3rd, 2001, 12:37 AM
hey I know, lets put Anya in that cube thing that they guy was in last night in Angel, that way, the demon that Angel fought can stick around, he was pretty cool....

She's probably sufficient enough to do this on her own by now-- I think especially last season with Dawn and her mother, she's really started taking on even more responsibility, so I don't think Giles is as essential to her training. Buffy First season just started on FX. I saw the first episode over the weekend, it was prety good. Yesterday they had the one where the 1st season principal was eaten by the hyenas at the zoo!

I though the Buffy premier was lousy. Nothing but run, cry, sad, cry, shock, cry, whine, blech. No comedy, no catharsis, a minimum of fighting, just buffy running around being miserable and in shock. Unsatisfying television. The finale last season was great though.. Buffy F!@%#@'in DIED. I mean, woah, that was something you don't see every episode. Is it just me, or are the touchy-feely episodes (like the one where Joyce died) really just beyond intolerable?

I didn't think it was terrible. I liked the one where Buffy's one died-- I think they tried too hard to be profound in some parts, but the gangs' reaction was cool to watch. Alyson Hannigan does the grief thing so well.

I think we should all bow down to the creative genius that is Joss Whedon. I absolutely love that man... he's amazing.

After the season finale last season, I bawled. I was hysterical, seriously. I had to call in sick for work (I was working graveyards at that point) because I couldn't stop crying. After watching the show for 6 years, you really do create an attachment to these characters. Each and every one of them are different pieces of you. I have felt like every one of the characters... I've been in most of those situations (without the demon-y stuff). There've been MANY times when I've acted like Anya, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.... or the Buffy/Angel thing... been in a relationship you knew was wrong.. or the Buffy/Riley thing.. been in a relationship you knew was right, but let it go anyways.

To me, Buffy is less about demons and vampires, but more about growing up... coming of age.

Glad to know I'm not the only Buffy nut.

You people would be jealous of my Spike Wall... my boyfriend hates it. :) To me, my life revolves around that beautiful chiselled face... that wonderfully pale body. Yummmmmmmmmm

About Angel... I love the series. I love the characters, especially Gunn... he's too cool. I'm glad they have Fred now, she's going to be a great character.

well spikespet , I just thought that the coincidence was uncanny, I mean with the one season finale it ends with the school being blown up, around the same time as Colombine shootings then this year the season premiere ended with a collapseing tower also around the same time as wtc incodent, now both of these episodes are completely unrelated to said tradegies but they were also taped months before these events occured...it is just creepy and thought provoking

SpikesPet5150
October 4th, 2001, 08:36 PM
Oh I agree... they actually postponed the episode Ear Shot because of school shootings (that was the one where she could hear everyones thoughts, and she thought Jonathan was going to shoot up the school, but turns out he just wanted to kill himself).

The tower collapsing last night hit me, too. I realized the coincidence.

I think one of my favorite parts of last nights dialogue was when they were all walking back through the cemetary (after the opening fight scene) and they were talking about Buffybot, and Xander said something about making her "exactly right".. and Spike said, "She'll never be exactly." He's taking this so hard, and I just wanna hug him. :( Poor little spikey.

Xander67

SpikesPet5150

LOL I know I'll never look at sloppy joes the same way again. :)

or Buffybot's new little whitty pun... "That'll put marzipan in your pie plate, bingo!"

LOL

Thats one of the things I love most about Buffy and Angel.. the amazing dialogue... I only someday to be half as good as any of the writers... I bow to them... "I'm not worthy!"

Oh.. and in the Buffy vs Dracula episode.. I loved it when Xander said, "I'm tired of being everyones butt-money!" LOL Poor Xander... he's always getting shafted. Then again, he got to bang Faith... so I bet alllll the guys in here are jealous! :)

And Faith isn't in the loony bin.. she's in jail.

And Giles is going to have his own show called The Watcher (hopefully, it's still in production!).. but it'll only be shown in the UK. He left mainly because he has a wife and children in England and he misses them tons. So it was his choice to leave.. he wasn't just written out. And he'll be back for guest appearances and such.

And I wouldn't necessarily call Buffy "tragic". The shit that happens to her is real. I mean, her mom dying... that happens to everyone. That was one of those episodes where I didn't stop crying all through the show. Very beautifully written. Her being in a doomed relationship, that happens every day. Every single day each and every one of us is battling our own demons. Joss just chose to put those demons into actual demonic form. 9 times out of 10, they stand for something bigger, something real.

Uhm, I don't know about you, but if my mom died I'd consider it a tragedy.

Dare I ask ? How bad does it have to be to be a tragedy?
sorry had to ask....

no no no no ... that is SOOOOOO not what I meant!!!

What I meant was, I don't think it's written to be specifically a tragic show... *but* tragic things happen in everyones life. I didn't mean to say that those things weren't tragic.

And Willow... if my mother died, I don't think tragic would quite cover it... but gee, thanks so much for asking.

No problem sparkle pants.

I'm sure both Xander and myself appreciate the clarification, being as we both mentioned it.

rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggghhhhhhhhhht.

I'm sorry if I didn't word that right the first time, Xander... I really didn't mean it the way it came out... I just meant I don't think the show is specifically written to be a tragic show... but they do have to add the tragic elements, to make it real. Does that make any sense? It makes sense in my head... LOL

I thought it was different, and it was pretty good..

an example of mixed loyalties and how they can be benificial to the greater good...

in the end, when gunner told angel, "well at least now you know you can trust me, i did not kill you when i had the chance" Angel's responce was thought provoking he said "NO, I wont know I can trust you untill you are able to Kill me when the time comes that you should!"

interesting

I got the feeling that he meant *if* the time comes that Angel goes all evil again.... then Gunn would have to kill him.. prove his trust. ..but I could be wrong. :)

hmmm that is a possibility,

but he said "When" and that could have indicated a knowledge of "things to come"

we will just have to wait and see.. that is how
the Producers keep us curious by those endings LOL

I thought of it too myself but I think he knows something, IM sure he knows his fate, and as used in the eppisode "HIS MISSION" LOL

Heh. Hopefully the season'll get better. But I like the way they're showing the relationships, particularly the Buffy/Spike one. And not just 'cause I think Spike's nice eye candy.

why didn't they just use the name "TommyKnockers" and get it over with  ??!!???

I'm sure it will get better now that Giles is comming back  mabey they jsut had a bad week LOL

I've never seen Tommyknockers-- what's the resemblance? :)

Also, Giles isn't coming back for good, only guest spots, so if he's the reason the show is declining, then I'm afraid we won't have much to look forward to. :)

Overall thoughts-- I missed some of it, (have to rewatch my tape) but I really liked them touching on the fact that Buffy isn't necessarily happy about being brought back. I didn't really like Buffybot when she was there, but now that she's gone I feel kinda sad about it. Not that much, just a little.

I felt REALLY bad for buffy...during her whole talk about heaven.

But..i also felt really bad for spike, his love for buffy, during his little speech about saving her was so incredibly touching.....

I thought it was nice in the scene where she "thanked" them for bringing her back, if they knew where she really was, they would have been upset and felt guilty

I bawled my eyes out when he said, "I save you every night." And when he was crying outside of Buffy's house.. and he let Xander see him that way.... so touching. I just wanna hug him and make him some cocoa (with the marshmallows that Joyce used to have). :(
