This is great!

I am a Reiki Master, since 1995. I do Usui Reiki.
I feel amazed to see how many different "Reiki's" have shown up since I became a Master. I personally, have seen no reason to expand into the other "Reiki's", as I don't think one can add anything to Reiki. Though, I know many folks will tell me that it isn't in it's whole form until many other symbols are added. I have found the few I was originally taught, to be all I need to work with. Though, I think that some of the symbols folks use in addition to Reiki can serve many good purposes.

The Reiki Energy is what it Is, IMHO.

It seemed to me, back in the 90s, that people were coming up with new symbols so that they could boast that their Reiki was better than anyone else's Reiki. It seemed like a competitive issue to me, with the idea that they trying to "improve" Reiki or make it more whole.

When I started doing Reiki in 1993, there were barely any Reiki Masters to be found or to learn from. Then it spread so fast that I can understand why people became competitive for 'business'. The things people have done to "expand" on Reiki are very interesting. So many good books, too. When I started there were only a couple to choose from, and not one of them contained any symbols, as symbols were ONLY to be shared by Master to level II or III students of Reiki. I remember how appalled we were when Diane Stein's book came out with the symbols in it. We came to the conclusion, in my Mastership group, that everything happens for a reason, and we let it go.

As for practicing Reiki, I do self-treatments. I Reiki my food at every meal. I send it long distance a few times a month when requested. I haven't taught a class in a LONG time, but feel the urge, and hoping that some students will seek me out, soon!
