View Full Version : Reincarnation...?

Hi, all! I’m sorta new at this, but I have something I want to ask…but kinda bear with me cause it’s my first time…
Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved music. I play several instruments, I listen to music constantly, and I can feel it more than anything I’ve ever experienced. It is literally me. Now, in the last four years, I’ve found myself becoming more and more attached to a certain era of music. Mainly, the Woodstock era. The time around ‘65 to about ’74 when peace and love ruled the music world. At first, I just loved the music and it’s meanings and didn’t give thought to why I loved them so much. But, as time progressed, I got deeper into it, and certain things became certain meanings. Now, this may sound weird, but I came to the conclusion that I was a hippie in my last life. To be specific, I was a hippie who was at Woodstock, and died of an overdose shortly after.
Now, I’ll be the first person to say that that sounds ridiculous, but it makes too much sense to me. Like I said before, I have very much interest in the era and in Woodstock, but there’s more than just that. I’ve also had an unexplainable hard time with the idea of alcohol and drugs. Not that they are the greatest thing on earth and everyone should do them, but it’s good to just relax once in a while.
I guess the question I’m getting at is if the idea of reincarnation sounds completely ridiculous, or if anyone else has shared similar feelings. I feel that there is no “stupid” answers to this question because everyone has there own, unique story to tell, and I would love to hear them because they really intrigue as well as interest me and it would make me feel more comfortable to know I’m not alone. Thanks!!!

Nope, not ridiculous. There's other threads on reincarnation around here, feel free to search.

I personally don't think reincarnation happens that quickly but I suppose anything's possible.
Just something to think about...

I've lived many lives and don't think it's a crazy notion at all.

From my experience and that of all the Pagans I know, we all live many lives. Sometimes we come right back after we die, sometimes we choose to stay in the other realm for awhile between lives 'till we want to come back. We also have some control over the lives we're born into, things we need to learn in those lives, people we want to continue to be around (thus, soul mates).
And it's not unusual to remember one or a few or even many lives, but I gotta tell you I don't think anyone would remember every single life.
*Just* my thoughts.

Yeah, actually I lived around then myself. And, I think it doesn't take too long for a reincarnation. It just depends on the soul and when they are ready to try again...
Random thought: I don't know what I died from, but I think it wasn't till the late 70s or 80. Around the age of 35 I'd say. I have a habit of dying young.

Ever thought about why?

Not sure...maybe I'm no good at this living thing. Or maybe I learn my lessons quickly (wishful thinking).

I'm with Willow on this one...I think it all depends on when our souls are ready for the next trip on the merry-go-round, so to speak!
I heard somewhere that the "average" is supposed to be anywhere from 50-100 years between lives. Can't remember exactly where I heard that one, and gods only know what they're basing this off of.
But I definitely think our souls choose the time they feel is right for them...whether it's based on astrological factors, or who else happens to be reincarnating with them, or whatever...there could be a million different factors.
Wish it was easier to remember past lives though...I've only been able to remember one of mine. Although I can usually sense if I've known a person "before", and how I knew them...I just have a weird kind of intuition, I guess. :)

I usually die as a child or as a young woman (or so I'm told by Pagan friends of mine who feel they can look into past lives). IMHO it was because I spent a lot of time learning lessons children do. Its also suggested that in this life I have chosen to do the whole "grown up" thing, which is maybe why I've always been thought of as someone who tried to grow up too fast, and someone who's always pushing for the white picket fence dream :)

Well, the Dhali Lama is supposed to be reincarnated each time from the last one...and they start looking for him as soon as he dies, so I guess they don't think there's a 50 year jump.

Interesting to think about isn't it.

I actually just read an interesting book about reincarnation that they actually made a movie out of. It's called the Search for Grace and its about the most accurately documented case of reincarnation. Pretty cool. Anyway, the reason I brought it up was because in the book, the person with the past lives had incarnations that overlapped. They attributed this possibility to the theory that time isn't like a line and the past is past... more like time is just one big plane, like a piece of paper. All the times are represented there, all in a big pile. Almost like they all exist at once. Different planes of can kind of lay over top of each other so you could very well have an incarnation in two people living at one time but they wouldn't both be on the same "paper" or plane... it'd be like a different frequency? I'm getting myself confused. I don't really get the theory yet, but the point I'm trying to make is that from what I get, professionals seem to think there is no "time limit" before you get reincarnated, so I wouldn't say that having a recent incarnation is impossible.

Reincarnation is a very, very complicated theroy. Its one I beleve in, however, yet one I don't even try to explain. I just... believe...

I don't think there's a set rule about time between incarnations. I agree that it depends on the spirit. There is 23 years between my past life and my current life. I was my mother's mother, Ruth Elaine. She/I died when I was 26 during childbirth giving birth to a son who aslo died at that time. I always knew I looked like her. When we went to Maine to visit family when I was 18 my mother's uncle could not even stand being in the same room with me because he said it was too weird. I stayed with a friend of the family while we were there. Ruth/me used to babysit for this woman, Rita, all the time. Rita was a strict Catholic but she said she knew she was looking at Ruth reincarnated......she said not only did I look just like Ruth, I had her mannerisms and her voice. I admit that the town has always seemed very familair...as in I know where certain places used to be that I've never been told about. I used to brush it off til after my great grandmother died. My mother brougth some pictures and letters to me. In particular was an 11th anniversary card for my great grandparents signed "Love Ruth".........it was MY signature, but as my mother pointed out, not even she had been born at that time. I got pregnant for the 1st time when I was 27 and had a son, completing one thing that was left undone in my life as my grandmother. My mother and I know that I was my mother's mother. :)
