I have noticed certain animals around me lately like ants, spiders, cats, and 1 snake. Who could that be? I have looked into the Greek, Celtic, and Fae paths. What deities are represented by one or all of the animals mentioned above? Please help!

You'll find that fertility deities are often associated with cats. Athene is also associated with spiders (remember the Arachne myth).

I think that Athena is connected to the spider. Maybe not a particular god/dess is involved with you spotting these animals. Is their a particular animal that may stand out among the rest? Maybe one of these animals could be your animal guide.

possibly Harpokrates, a Grecian form of Horus as a child.
He is associated with crocodiles, snakes and scorpions.

Perhaps Spider Woman from the Native religions?...They may not be signs of a God or Goddess...perhaps they could be your Totem animals instead?...what do you learn from these creatures? Namaste

I am learning that they like where I live and I have never seen so many spiders in an apartment ever.

You know, it might not have anything to do with a deity. It could be your totem animals coming forth, or temporary totem animals... or animals whose message you need to heed at this time.

Things are not always deities.

Bast is represented in a cat form sometimes and Cats are holy to her.

I really like spiders...I find they are so good to have around. I live in a huge century old stone building and we have many kinds of spiders living here. Every six months or so the small ones grow and I have like maybe sixe at a time in my bedroom. I think of all insects, they are most like the Goddess Kali, although Kali isnt associated specifically with spiders. Ever read 'Charlotte's web?' Lovely story.

I came across Goddess Ariadne.

ARIADNE
(Continental European) This Goddess of ancient Crete is the only Greek deity known to have been worshipped in Celtic Gaul. Her name is derived from the genus name for the spider, arachnid. In one of the few threads of extant Celtic creation myths, Ariadne spins the universe from the primordial darkness like a spider spins her web, a theme with echoes in the creation myths of many other cultures. Therefore this particular myth strikes many scholars and Pagans as being very un-Celtic, and it may have been a remnant of Indian mythology brought with the Celts on their long journey across the European Continent.

Also, and I'm not saying this to be critical, but it may not even be anything spiritual. Ifr you're seing various types of animals, and you said one snake, it may not mean anything at all. You have to look at the mundane first. Even if you often see a lot of one type of animal, it doesn't have to mean that it's a message. Sometimes it is yes, but there are other things that need to be considered first.

For instance, I see seagulls all the time. I see about 10 at least every day. But, I live on the beach, and the college parking lot has plenty of garbage which attracts them. Does this mean that I should go look and see what goddess is associated with these birds and assume that she's sending me a message?

And, I'd be even more careful if you're talking about seeing multiple types of animals. Spiders, cats and snakes seem pretty common animals to see.

And, it doesn't even have to be a message from a particular god or goddess. It could be a message from totem animals, just a general message having to do with the symbolism of the animal, or it could be just a general "hi, how you doing?" from the god and goddess. Or, it could be nothing at all.

But, you didn't really give a lot of background, so I could be wrong. This is just something for you to consider.

I live in a Houston suburb apartment complex in TX. I see cats alot. This is the first apartment where I have had spiders living with me. The snake was weird. I don't know where it came from or how it got inside my apartment.

If you only saw it once, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that it was some sort of spiritual message.

In the suburbs you're more likely to see cats than you are a clear sky in these days it seems.

As for spiders, well... if you people only knew how many spiders live on the average acre (and it doesn't have to be a rural acre, oh no...) then you would not be so surprised to find one in your house. Many of you would not sleep as easily either, I'm sure. In fact, I bet you have 10 in and around your house at any given time in an apartment, depending on the area and climate of course.

As for the snake, it's not really uncommon. I've seen a few over the years, never in my house, but this could be the result of many things really. If I'm not mistaken Texas has quite a large population of snakes statewide, so again I wouldn't really look at this as being necessarily a spiritual message, much less a deity.

Totem energies are still a possibility, but given the further information you've provided I would doubt that is the case. At the very least I would say the most spiritual thing here might be a message or two from the animals you keep seeing. The cats could be trying to tell you to be more cautious and adapt, and so could the snake and spider. Adaptability is something each does very well considering the animal kingdom at large. However, I would not be so certain it is even that to be honest. It doesn't seem that unusual.

But what do they mean to you? To me when I think of an ant I think of hard work and team work... how does that translate to your life? Look at the animals, their lifestyle, their feeding/cleaning/mating habits. Study the animal to see what you can learn from them.

*nods*...it's true. If you havn't seen any images in dreams or anything by now, it may not be a deity contacting you. The Gods are not very subtle in their efforts (well soem Gods) or even in contacting people. I know when Kali first started to appear, she sent a dream of a fullfledged Thugi ceremony going on, and showing herself leaping out from a funerary pire to slay her mistaken devotees...thats one way she contacted me. Of tghe other stories I have read on here, Gods...from many pantheosn seem to send multiple clues in many ways and even reviel their forms in dreams. Totem animals or even just simply spirits playing with your head by bringing these animals to you?

When animals call my specific attention then I know that they are trying to tell me something. Although I may see certain animals everyday when something inside says pay attention I do. When I was first learning how to get the messeges from animals I was told to keep track of what animals I saw then arrange them without thinking at the end of the day and then take their associations and make a sentence. If the appearence of these animals feel important to you then it is. I would lean more towards animal guides speaking but that is also my background.

I tried to take ant, spider and cat and form a sentence like I used to, but this may or may not apply to you so I will just go over some possible meanings. spider is all about weaving your destiny, about writing and creativity, the weave of fates balance of masculine and feminine. ant I think of working together for a common cause, or just working hard. Cat I think of psychic abilities but what came first to me was independece, or perhaps have you felt catty? Inviting these animal spirits to you in meditation and then talking to them may help you realize something or be very informative.

If the spiders bother you I'd suggest asking them to leave or put drops of peppermint oil in the corners of your place once a month. I had huge ones that gave me the willys and this seemed to deter them. also check to see if there may be something they are eating at your place. just because spider has had important messeges for me doesn't mean that I am not going to deter his from setting up house in my place. it avoids the whole live eviction process. ;)

Thanks for all the help and info. I believe bugs should live outside, not inside.

What "signals" are you getting when you encounter these animals?
Are you sure that they are necessarily representing a Deity?
It could be that the animal itself has a message (look into their power-animal qualities, symbols and representations).
Sometimes animals are just animals, but if you feel that they are there on purpose, look into their various representations, not just the Deities that might be connected to them.
