I am interested in going deeper into this subject. I have a couple books 'Hands of Light' and 'Energy Medicine' (i'm currently digging my way through the first.) However, most of the exercises mentioned in these books are geared for partners (which I understand, instant feed back.)

But my problem is I don't know anyone who is interested in energy work (have tried in the past and that failed for lack of interest on other parties part) and so I hit a snag. For those of you who are soloists, what did you do? How do you tailor two person exercises to one person? (Sending energy out to the other person and getting it back kind of things, I'm supposing it isn't possible to do being a soloist, is it?)

I havn't used a book before. You could probably modify the exersizes in the book though....

Honestly... I just play if I want to practice.

You need a different book. JK
Seriously, alter everything and everything to fit you!!! If you explore you may find things that work for you that are not in any books...remember you were not created by the book. As unique as you are so is what you can find to do that will work for you.
Use your imagination..its unique. Experiment and find your own ways. I always feel thats the best!!! Get your ideas from books and everywhere you can,, then alter!! :)

One of my favorite books on energy healing is "Your Hands Can Heal You" by Master Stephen Co. There's alot of exercises in there that can be done solo and the techniques are great for cleansing the aura and the chakras. If you're doing solo work and want to send energy for distance healing you could always find someone on the boards to work with and give you feedback.

You might also try working with some exercises like the microcosmic orbit and a good chakra balancing meditation. This helps with energy work of all kinds.

Like someone else did recently here, I'm thinking of posting a thread and asking for a few volunteers who feel in need of energy healing to allow me to send energy and then give me feedback on what they experienced. I've been practicing reiki and pranic healing, solo as well, and this seems like a good way to put it into practice.

Another thought... I'd assume that some of the exersises requiring a partner may be substitued for a pet.

Get your cat/dog/rat and feel their energy. See how they react to your energy 'balls'.

Just a random thought....

I use a candle, and channel the energy through the flame. Your best bet is to use your element and work off of that element. I can always get the flame to raise some pretty good energy, and then I communicate with the flame. Just, make sure to cast a circle around whatever you're using, more than once I've blown up a candle jar for not enclosing the energy inside the circle.

do you mean cast a circle around yourself and the candle...or just around the candle???

This is a good idea. I'll have to try it. Thanks. :)

In which ways do you mean "manipulating energy"? Spells and energy that can't be seen or psi energy? On my own with psi energy over the last couple of years I have gone from making the psi wheel move now to small objects such as pocket change, pencils and "whisping" paper off the table.

This has all been done on my own though with occassional exercises from psipog.

Just a lil' fyi....

How did you learn to control forces like that??? I've never heard of "psi energy".....?? It sounds interesting!

Could you tell me more about it???

First... this falls under Reiki and Healing? I can see it applying, but also to a lot of things... made more sense to me where it was before....

Second, for telekenisis type stuff, something I've seen and mean to construct one of these days... a pendulum on a stand over a bowl of sand (for it to draw in). You stay far enough back to not touch it (and put it somewhere stable) and work on making it move. No finger twitches. Or they have little fan things inside glass jars (I forget what they are called... these would have to be bought to be made properly) that spin when the sun hits them. Making those spin, or stop, is fun. For less telekenisis type stuff... thermometer in a jar, try to change the temp?

Anything without physical effects is hard to guage. Of cousre, having something measuring it can also psych you out, preformance/test anxiety. A bit of a catch 22.

Hands of Light is a good book. But I know what you mean by needing a partner to work with. I have an old book called, "The Psychic Energy Workbook". It is probably not even in print anymore. It also has alot of work to do with a partner.

I was fortunate, in the beginning of doing Reiki and other energy work that I had a best friend who was just as interested as I was, so we worked together, very well.

Are you sure there aren't any Reiki share groups in your area? Many "Unity" churches have them. Unity is a metaphysical Christian movement, and there are many Pagans and New Agers who go to Unity. I do, and there are lots of Reiki people there. Once you meet people in your area, you can get practice groups together at your own home if someone else doesn't offer them.

Ultimately, I think it is best to work with a partner when you are learning.

Blessings!

Around the candle. I usually use a candle in a jar as my main candle and then 4 tealights to represent the 4 corners. I use an alter, and light the 4 candles around the candle jar, then I light the candle jar. I'll have to upload my flame pictures sometime, it all works off the moon, that's when the best energy can be raised I find.

Although, if you just use the candle jar, without the tea lights around it, and if you raise enough energy, you can cause the candle jar to explode. I did that twice, blew a hole right through the jar.

As far as books are concerned, I generally suggest Man Tak Chia. His Awaken Healing Energy through the Tao would be a good start. Some of his stuff is focussed on martial arts practice, while others are forms of shiatsu or acupressure. But he is the most readable of the qigong masters and generally provides good exercises with steps and illustrations. There are other books too, but his are easily read, understandable and found in many book stores.
The story behind Barbara Anne Brennan's books is interesting. She was for several years considered to be Takata's successor. Eventually Takata's granddaughter took over, and Barbara was ousted. Something or another occurred behind the scenes. You will notice that Barbara never mentions reiki at all in her books. I believe that there is some sort of legal bar from her describing what she does as a form of reiki. But her system obviously comes out of reiki.

Do you mean Energy Medicine by Donna Eden? I use a pendulum for all of her muscle testing exercises and it works. This book is amazing! I wish I had a partner too, and am trying to start up my own healing group, fingers crossed!
