Does anyone know much about feng shui? Do you take it into consideration when you decorate your space? My room has a lot of negative energy in it (I have actually slept on the couch some nights because I can't bear it in there), and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. So...can anyone tell me more about feng shui or direct me to a link where I can find out more? Thank you!! :D

Also, you could try a smiple (or complex up to you) clensing spell for the space. When I need to clense a space the first step is to clear the whole place out (physically). I take out everything. Throw away, donate, whatever I don't need. Then I do a cleansing ritual for the space. Then I look at the empty space and think about where I'd like to see the remaining items placed.
This takes a bit of time and a lot of hard work, but I find that this is what works best for me.

I have two Feng Shui books, I do use them. I am no Feng Shui expert but I find they help me arrange my house and yard. I have no sense of stile or decorating so if nothing else the books help me make the place look good.

I borrowed a Feng Shui guide from a friend of mine, and I did a quick and dirty Feng-Shui-ification of my living room. Geez, it used to be small and crowded and now it feels like the continuum of time and space added 75% more freaking ROOM. Like, it came from NOWHERE or something, lol. Energy runs a lot better, but we're gonna have to do something about this shar that's like, running straight from the front door to my roomate's door. >_<

I've known quite a few clients who had problems sleeping in their rooms. It was usually rectified by moving the bed to another wall of the room to correct energy flow.
Some keys to arranging the bed in a Feng Shui room are that the bed should not sit in the direct line of the path of the doorway, you can always see the door from the bed, the bed position should allow you the widest possible view of the room, the bed should sit as far from the bedroom door as possible.
Hope this helps :)

it's probably the placement of the bed. You want to be able to see all exits, entrances when laying down in bed. You don't want mirrors where you can see them in the bed. Also clutter is a big no no...you want energy to be able to move easily.
hmm...it's really hard to say without seeing how your room is. But look through some info...I don't know of anything on the web but there are a few books out there.

No television and no large electronic devices of any kind other than a small clock radio kept across the room from the bed.
No mirrors, unless small and not reflecting on the bed.
No RED. No RED carpet, RED walls, RED furniture, RED bed covers. NO RED (fire, an active energizing force). Also, avoid orange (too close to red), and yellow (mental activity, energy).
The colours should be cool, shades of purple, lavender, blue, and muted green or neutral earth tones as long as they are not too RED. That includes a vivid brown.
No peach, apricot, or pink (fildelity problems)
Pictures or wall hangings should be peaceful images, nothing shocking.

I've owned several feng shui books but this one helped me make sense of it all and damned if it doesn't work when I do it!

Your birth animal in this sense is also your chinese zodiac sign, which consists of 12 animals that are divided up by year-and as the legend goes appear in chronological order relating to the order in which they reached Buddha who had called forth all the animals in nature.

I'm a rat. And it fits, just as much as the Capricorn in me.

My mum is an earth goat, as well as a Capricorn. I am a water dog. The funniest of all I've heard to date is Kay, who is a metal rooster (cock, as she puts it).
Back on the subject though, I've never utilized feng shui. I have read about it, but I find it often disagrees with my own placement of various things-even many Pagans disagree with my placement of stuff. Mirrors reflecting windows, mirrors reflecting beds, mirrors reflecting doors, and so forth for example.
However, I have never once experienced a problem and trust in my intuition where things are placed. I go with the flow and let the objects wind up where they may. I do not think I could honestly handle adhering to feng shui, since by its very nature it is conformity-things being placed in certain places for the best results and certain areas where things should never be placed. That alone is unsettling to me.

The odd thing about it is that when I started studying it, I realized I'd been practicing Feng Shui without realizing it, for a number of the tips. Others, the minute I read them, clicked. A few didn't, so I didn't bother with that.
And with my O/C nature, I think the 'a place for everything' part hits home....I hate things being out of place or in disarray. But you know that. :p

I try to do that, because everyone tells me I should because I am something of an insomniac, but my room is so small, my bed is one of the few surfaces I have other than the floor. :P
Oh, and my birth animal is a snake. :D

I do take feng shui into consideration. I've noticed that when my room is untidy, the chi becomes stagnant, and it affects me. Also, I try to incorporate the elements into my room. Keep it simple! Nothing too complex for me!

Basics of Feng Shui
In Feng Shui (pronounced fung shway), literally means wind and water. Feng Shui "cures"
are used to quickly re-direct chi (the invisible energy that affects our homes, businesses,
and even our health and well being. Most importantly, a cluttered room or home will
stagnate, and therefore, inhibit the flow of chi.
When an environment cannot be changed to the ideal energy movement, "cures" are used.
Below is a listing of cures, followed by products used in most cures.
The Basic Cures used to stimulate positive energy ["Chi"] and redirect negative energy:
Bright Objects: Mirrors, Faceted Crystal balls, gems, lights, candles. Light Refracting
objects activate chi and deflect negative chi.
Sounds: Windchimes, bells, music. Sounds raise chi.
Living Chi: Flowers, Plants, Birds, Fish. Raise chi.
Moving: Mobiles, Chimes, Fountains. Raise chi.
Heavy: Stone Sculptures, Furniture. Stabilize chi.
Mechanical: Computers, Stereos, TV. Stimulate chi.
Bamboo Flutes: and banners. Raise chi.
Color: Relates to each area on Baqua Map. Colors nourish chi.
Mystical Symbols/Representations: Raise chi.

Great, helpful as that is, it still doesn't change the fact that my bedroom door opens to a window directly across from it, with a bed in between. :wah:
No wonder I don't sleep  (I read that positioning the bed in front of a window is bad ... not to mention the door and window situation.

RR, hang a crystal between the door and the window from the ceiling. If you can place something at the very end of your bed, like a chest,a chair, a small coffee table etc. This will help.

In the bedroom when I'm laying in bed, the window is to my right and the bathroom door (I keep it close at night) is to my left with the foot facing the doorway out to the living area...is this bad feng shui??
Have had a lot of bad luck lately and trying to invite good feng shui in the home...

Having your feet facing out the door is bad feng shui. And the bathroom door should be shut at all times. The toilet lid down at all times and if you can you should plug the drain holes in your bathroom.
A window and a door shouldn't be opposite each other but usually you can't escape this. So the most easiest fix i have ever found is to hang a crystal in the middle of your room from the ceiling.
A chair, low table, chest etc is good to have at the end of your bed. It all helps the flow of chi. Also try to have something in every corner as 'curved' corners are better for the flow than the two walls meeting each other.
Also another thing i have found is to cover your mirror in your bedroom and only uncover when you are using it. It really helps with sleep and the energies in your room.

Thankfully there are no mirrors in the bedroom...something in the corners hmm?? I guess would those corner tables be a good idea then?? I have only one corner I can use at least until I get matching nightstands that go with the bed....is there a way I can decorate the stands instead since the corners will not be feasible??
