Hi All :)
With the Full Moon here at the moment I had some time to do some scrying last night and it got me wondering ~ How many of us here follow the Moon's cycle to work with our divination tools?

Do you follow it at all in accordance to divination? Do you read/gaze/scry more with the moon at certain times of its cycle?
Thought we could all throw our thoughts in :)

Merry Meet Silver Venus!

I find that I do divination anytime during a calendar month and definitely on a Full Moon, and write my readings down in a journal and keep track of the moon phase, the planetary day, time, etc. I used to belong to a Pagan Study Group last year, and I remember one of the women stating that divination should only be done on the Full Moon (among some other dooseys that she was telling the group), which I thought was an odd thing to say. Needless to say, I am not part of that group anymore. Have you ever heard this before? Is divination only meant for the full moon?

Well, actually.... no. But it makes sense to do so.

Guess I'm more of a 'solar' kinda guy... :sunny:

Me? I'm always using tarot cards, runes, my crystal ball, a ouija board, tho I think the best time for finding out about your personal future and goals you're reaching for is at a full moon or --- oo at Samhain! :)

Well, hmmm, honestly, no not really, although I wish I did because I really think that you could get help on the interpetion of a reading if you do so. :) So maybe I should start keeping better track. I do keep good track on the moonphases for other reasons, so why not involve the moon in a more active role in my readings :)

Yep Samhain is nearly here!!!
:D:boing: :shift: :p :heartthro :nyah:

I read with Runes and the Tarot all the time ~ nearly every day ~ new moon.. half moon.. full moon.. or even dark moon...
But I think its good to work with the full moon for all readings but especially srcying, meditation and past life regression ~ personal future goals like you said Willow :) Thats a great way of putting it!

Im curious now ;) ~ What does everyone think of the Dark moon in terms for divination?

Ya know... I've never really thought about it.

I can tell you that, in general, I feel more energy at the 'waned' end of the cycle, but I just chalked that up to being male (since most folks associate the Moon as being female/feminine...).

I normally don't notice what moon it is or even if the moon is void of course. It might be neat for some darker stuff - protection questions or questions about keeping people out of your life, or asking who could be causing problems if anyone. Or what things you should call into your life during the waxing moon.

Yeah Ive been thinking over the last night that Im deffiantley going to prepare and be looking more intohe darker side this wanning to answer some questions I want and need to resolve about a person I dont trust but cant seem to loose contact with...

I think the wanning moon is male and allot darker and in some ways stronger than the waxing moon so Ido tend to feel allot more energy at these times too Rick.

Its so interesting to hear about how the moon affects us all so differently :)
I get FMT not PMT! :D

I've posted some information on the dark moon in Magick and Rituals since we are in this cycle right now. It is suggested that this is a time to rest, meditate, reflect and do some divination to further explore darker aspects. Here are some instructions for making a black bowl for divination. I'm also reading the book it is taken from Dark Moon Mysteries by Timothy Roderick and I highly recommend it.

Black Bowl for Divination
© 1996 by Timothy Roderick

Take a large, deep bowl of any color? but black is preferable. Decorate the outside with sigils, runes, or glyphs. Use symbols that speak to you, or that help elevate the bowl above the rank of a mundane, household object.

The inside of the bowl needs to be a solid, dark color. If need be, use a high-gloss black enamel paint to darken the inside of the bowl. If you want toss you could also glue coins, beads, shells, stones, or other small objects along the outside of the bowl to further decorate it.

Once consecrated, the Black Bowl is used for scrying and divination—this scrying method is very similar to that used by the prophet Nostradamus.
