View Full Version : "Repairing" my Tarot-deck

I got a Tarot-deck from my aunt 2 years ago and have never used it. Knowing her, she probably got it at a sale-out <g>
The problem is, the cards have a different naming then the normal cards, and every card has it's name written on it.... BUT they are often wrong (the whole thing is printed wrongly). You can see on the cards that the meaning just doesn't fit with the design, and in the Booklet every card is printed with the right name next to it.
The cards are black with white writing and I haven't found a way yet of repairing them. I thought about taking black duct tape, writing the right name on it and sticking it over the other writing... it's difficult to find a decent pen that writes on black, though.
Any suggestions?

I've seen silver ink pens at craft stores. It was the latest rage here. Kids were using them to write in journals of black paper.

My only fear is that the tape would interfer with shuffing the cards. Could you use a permanent black marker to cross off the wrong names?....then use the neon pens to write the correct ones on?

Try craft paint to cover the names. You can make a design on each card. Experiment with different colors for each arcana and such. Then use a craft paint pen to write the name of each card.
Let us know what you do and how it comes out.:)

I think all those are great :)
Also you could design a sticker on your computer ~ there a re loads of different sizes out there ~ but you may have to cut one sticker in half.. Then you can make a patern (maybe dont use any of the tiles.. and read just with the pictures? Because why do we need the titles anyway?) or type the titles out again and stick these onto the cards.. You could then design them to how you want them and theres no fear of mistakes really...
Good luck :D

Thanks for all the suggestions, now I finally have some ideas!
I have a silvery pen that is supposed to write on black, but it didn't work... maybe the texture of the cards is too slippery. Maybe I need a different one, waterproof or so... I'll se what I'll make of it.

THis is a very ingenious idea!
somone who was making their own deck bought a regular deck of cards and "erased" them using acetone (finger nail polish remover)...so perhaps you can try erasing those areas with fingernail polish...
Good luck!
I have never tried this myself, however
