Lavender

I feel that life moves naturally in rounds. Seasons come & go, what you plant, you sow. A continuous flow of give and take. In offering herbs, you are completing that cycle. Offerings are not payment for something but rather more to honour or recognize a gift bestowed on us. It should not be done by empty rote, filled with empty phrases (like when you thanked Aunt Martha for that wonderful pair of leg warmers! Ugh!) I like to carry a small bag of herbs with me, blessed & cleansed to be used just for the purpose of offering. When I pick up a rock that has caught my eye, I leave a bit of herbs in its place. When a tree has spoken to me to share its secrets, I leave a sprinkle of cornmeal for the birds that may live in its branches. I've even left an offering after watching a beautiful sunset. The give and take does not always have to be for tangible things.
Here are some herbs that makes great offerings. Corn, tobacco, sage, sweetgrass, lavender, vervain, pine, rose petals, cedar.
