I thought I'd start a thread about healing techniques that are *not* Reiki and which can be used without attunements. So if anyone has weblinks, books, or personal insights and techniques, I'm really interested in hearing about them.

First of all, a question. I am capable of feeling deep emotion and am very sensitive to the energies in my body. Some music can evoke a lot of passion in me and I can focus on chanelling that energy through my hands. I'm just not sure if, when I do this, my pain is transmuted into something healthier for the person I'm sending to... or if I need to do something else to transmute it...

My mom has arthritis and I did a session to lessen her swelling. There was music playing, which I'm very emotionally attached to, so I used that music to help me channel the energy. There was a very noticeable change in the swelling, and one of her hands, previously too swollen to make a fist, was able to close noticeably more. I don't think I've had that kind of result using just Reiki...

There are several forms that I practice.
1)Candle Healing- meditation with the use of candles which are dressed for the person and situation.
2) Distance healing-I envison the person I am sending energy to recieving it and getting well.I can usually feeling tingling in my finger tips at the end which tells me it worked.I lay back and close my eyes and am completely relaxed ,working into a deep state of meditation.
3)Touch healing -I move my hands over the area that is troubled and channel energy to it imagining healing taking place.
4.)Calling Upon my Ancestors- For people that are very close to me I have been known to call for ancestoral help and healing .This happens thru meditatived state.I ask my ancestors to help me heal this person.
5.) Out of body Journeys- Thur meditation I can have an out of body experience and be with the person who is in need of healing and I touch them with my energies visualizing my hands moving over their body.
There are more things that I do healing wise and I also work with herbs and stones from time to time. These are just some brief examples of things that I do.Make sure that You ground and center Yourself and also take time to refresh and meditate just for you !

I have my reiki 3, but don't use any techniques from reiki. I find that their techniques are just half understood things stolen from qigong. Usui was a qigong adept, but Takata knew very little about it and she is the one who created the training for all western reiki masters. I use a combination of qigong and cranio-sacral therapy for most things. I can get rid of a migraine in almost anyone in five minutes, and heel spurs in one treatment. There is another technique actually from physiotherapy that I use for disk herniation, thoracic outlet syndrome and a few other related pathologies. Generally energy work isn't enough to create dramatic results, but combined with some mechanical techniques they combine well to bring results that will 'win friends and influence people'.

Before I get into a little booklist, I will give you some very helpful pointers I learned.
1) DO NOT heal with YOUR energy. I'll go the way of Ron White by saying this again, because it's one of the most important things to know about any kind of healing.
DO NOT HEAL WITH YOUR ENERGY. There. :) If you heal with energy, SHIELD yourself to prevent your energy from escaping, or other energy from entering your aura. Use your subject's energy to cleanse and heal themselves. Otherwise, you'd get their crap all over you, and an ill healer is a bad healer. This method is like putting on latex gloves and a mask before playing around with a leper. Clear, ground, center, and shield before doing ANY healing at all!
2) Heal the subject with their own energy. If you invade them with your energy, their aura will accept that as nothing but a psychic attack regardless of your relationship with each other. One aura invading another isn't a good thing. You can manipulate their own energy to clear, ground, center, and heal.
3) A good way to clear your subject is to have him or her lay down on a bed, couch, or floor... make sure they are completely flat, no knees swinging around, feet hanging over the corner, etc. Have them totally relax. After using the methods above, use their energy to make a psychic "filter" to cleanse their aura and body from head to toe, sending all of the gunk out of their feet. Use energy to dissolve the gunk.
4) Ground the person by having them "connect" to the Earth (or to the Universe), and having their energy neutralize. This prevents a sore lacking or overabundance of energy within your subject.
5) Center the subject by running their energy from the top of the head, out the bottoms of their feet, looping back up and re-entering the head. Run this like a conveyer belt, and their aura will center.
6) Open your 3rd eye, and look for energy spikes, depressions, and other irregularities in the subject's aura, chakras, body, etc. Keep in mind that not all irregularities are physical... many start on the mental or emotional level, and end up causing physical problems! Always ask your subject where they hurt... don't get egotistical and assume you already know where the problem is. You are helping a patient, not yourself! Ask them where they hurt, where they feel pressure, where they feel "off". Examine their energy. If you find a depression, smooth some of their own energy into the depression to fill it. Raise energy into them, but not too much. If you find a spike, smooth the spike down. If you encounter an irregularity that you do not have the knowledge to handle, do not make any guesswork, note it, take a hit to your pride, and ask them to seek help about that particular area.
7) Another good healing method is something I learned from the book "Quantum Touch"... raise the vibrational rate of the energy in your hands, and lightly touch or hover over problem areas (while still shielding, btw). Your interaction with the "wound" in this manner will raise the energetic vibration of the wound, successfully encouraging the subject's aura to heal it. You'd be suprised at your success with this, and it's VERY easy to do. I use this method all the freaking time, from stopping indigestion, clearing away illnesses, stopping most pains big and small, making physical wounds heal faster, calming, healing different physical damage, etc. It's not a 100% garuntee, but it's damnably reliable and excellent for beginners.

Now for the booklist. There are many different traditions centered around healing, and countless books about different ways to heal, but I will only give you three, with explanations, and let you choose where to from there.

"Wheels of Life" by Anodea Judith. This book extensively covers chakras, energy work, yoga, philosophy, and healthful wholeness. I'm not even done reading it, but it's a killer! It's thick book that goes into an in-depth discussion and examanation of each and every chakra, how to use it to its greatest effect, simple yoga practices centered around each chakra, energetic techniques, and... just get this book, lol.
"Hands of Light" by Barbara Brennan. This book covers energy use, auras, and healing. It's fluffy, but incredibly informative with excellent instruction regarding energy manipulation and more. It includes color illustrations of the aura in its various forms, using energy to heal, etc. It's an excellent book for beginners and healers, and absolutely indespensible.
"Quantum Touch" by Richard Gordon. This is, frankly, a book whose content equals maybe 5 pages, but is stretched on to a couple hundred pages of core teaching. It is worth buying! It glances over chakras unfortunately, but it teaches one of the easiest and most effective healing methods I've encountered. The methods in this book revolve around breathing techniques to raise and direct energy, how to apply it, and especially treatment of subjects and patients. Oh, and the wild claims and stories in this book are actually possible with practice from 3 months to a year and a half. It's indespensable if you're too poor to afford medical treatment and medicine, like me :)

Good job! You have either received good training, or you have a natural talent for healing. If you haven't had intensive training, then you should train yourself, or find a mentor... natural talent combined with good training make for a scary combo!! Just remember that when you swell with passion, to try and practice without using passion as a crutch, and to keep your aura under control and from spreading everywhere. The power is within you. :)
