*…sighs…* So I took my “required” pregnancy test on Saturday morning, the day my period was due (it was due between Friday and Saturday). It was negative. But I never got my period. I was horribly bloated for most of last week, and I was so sore, I was convinced it would have started right when it was supposed to like it always does. So I had a negative pregnancy test two days ago and my period is at least two days late. And I’m no longer bloated, and am barely sore any longer. My body feels exactly like it would if I would have gotten my period two days ago, but nothing. *…shakes head…* I am now on the 33rd day of my cycle. I know the calendar’s right because I track my cycle every month.
I’m terrified of taking another pregnancy test and seeing it come out negative and still not getting my period. I’m terrified of calling my doctor and getting blood drawn just to find out it was for nothing. I’m terrified of getting my hopes up and then getting my period after all. And now I’m driving myself crazy, and no amount of trying to calm myself down is doing any good at all.
I just want to go home and go back to bed and stay there until this all resolves itself one way or another.

eta: Ok, I should have said first - if you ovulated late, and tested the day your period was due, it's very possible that there simply wasn't enough pregnancy hormone in your body to register yet. If you still don't have your period in a week, and you are pregnant, the levels will be high enough then.

Athena-Nadine, have you read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It is so incredibly helpful. It gives you so much information about your body and your cycles - it makes you feel like YOU are in control rather than the vagaries of nature. There is a website here: www.tcoyf.com (http://www.tcoyf.com)
The basics are:
*The time between the first day of your last period and the day you ovulate can vary (based on stress or other environmental factors) even if you're normally regular
*The time between when you ovulate and your next period begins does not vary
That means that if you have a longer than normal cycle, you ovulated later than you thought, and so you probably timed your intercourse wrong if you were trying to conceive.
The book teaches you how to use your first morning temperatures and your cervical mucous to determine if you are ovulating. It also teaches you a ton of interesting information about your own body and your own cycles.
I know I sound evangelical, but honestly, I adore this book. It made me feel so in control. And, I'm pregnant now, after trying for 6 months.
If you really don't want to buy the book, the basics are also available at this website:

Good luck :)

:hugz: I know. :) I have it. I have a 12 day luteal phase, which would have had my period starting on Saturday. I ovulated, oddly enough, on Valentine's Day (pretty funny, that ;) ). I've been tracking all of it since right after my miscarriage last June, even though we weren't trying at the time.

*...nods...* That's what I was thinking. For numerous reasons (that I don't really want to get into again now) there is a chance that when I miscarried last year it was an ectopic pregnancy. That, along with the negative test has me more than slightly paranoid. Hence, I am really close to losing it. It's why I'm terrified of going for a blood test, and terrified of taking another pregnancy test. But my husband and I are trying, and because we both want it to be so, I'm also terrified of actually getting my period and finding out that I somehow miscalculated this month. *...wan smile...*
So now all I can really do is wait and try not to drive myself crazy in the meantime, which is made harder because my husband is out of town until Friday. :)

 sorry for the intrusion I seem to have interjected into the wrong thread so I'm editing to add these hugs all the same  and :hugz: and btw, that kind of thing happened to me with a pregnancy test...the test I took with my now almost 10 year old son didn't pick up enough of the preg hormones, so it was a negative...

It IS hard not to drive yourself crazy. Too bad you're not incredibly busy at work.
In any case, if it was me, I'd go for a blood test. That way you'll know for sure one way or the other - and you won't have the burden of worrying. And of course, if there is a problem (which I'm sure there's not), it's easier to take care of right away.

:hugz: Thanks again. :D I think right now I'm just trying to get it out of my system. I just got off the phone with my husband and told him that if I didn't get my period by the end of today (in case I did miscalculate somewhere this month), I would call the doctor forst thing in the morning.
It's just my luck that this is the one day that I'm not crazy at work.
