Today my husband entered his homemade chili in a chili contest at work. (military)

So thismoirning I did a simple candle spell for him that he will have the best chili and win.

He just e-mailed me and said "Our chili won an award for original recipe." He didn't win the 1st place overall but of a category which tells me I should have been more specific in my wording but either way it still worked and he won something. I didn't tell him about the spell tho. _whistle_ OOh his chili is good, and hot too. I get it for dinner tonight yay. _happydanc

That was only the 4th spell I've done.

Congratulations on the success. To tie this in with your post about "Beginner's Spells," I would say make sure to record this in a journal. Note everything like how you felt when the spell was performed, what planetary hour you did it in, the mmon phase, everything you can think of. The spell was a success, and I think it will help you in future spells to be able to look back on what exactly you did and how that could be used to ensure success in future spells you cast. Congratulations again.

Sure, I didn't even cast a circle this time. All I used was a white tealight, I cleared it with saltwater and then carved his name on one spot and win in another. I held a piece of green aventurine (for luck) in my receptive hand and the candle in my projective hand. I then charged the tealight with my intent and energy.

-This is the moment my 2 yr old came to the bedroom door saying "mommy, pee pee" so I had to stop in the middle of it and to take her to the bathroom-

I came back finished charging the candle and then I set it down on top of my Grimoire that has a pentacle on the cover, said my spell and then lit it. I then concentrated on it for a few more minutes then got up and went about my daily business. Almost every time I passed it I looked at it or touched it and reinforced it with my intent of the spell.

what do ya think? It proved to me that simple works just fine.

Ya know I didn't even worry about the astrological part. It seems like lots of peoples spells do fine without corresponding that part (except for maybe the moon).

Congratulations! :)
I don't like ceremonies, rituals and complicated procedures... I've been even told that I'm too casual person to use magick! My spells look more or less as this one. And they're as efficient as my coveners circles, invocations and rites. So, I'll stick to it :D
That's great, Seapearls - I admire your calm: when somebody disturbs me during the spellcasting (which is inevitable in my house -_-") all crumbles. Afterwards I try to start over, but often I must shift my work for a better time (usually when all the lights are off and everyone sleeps :P). So - good for you! :thewave:

actually I think simple is always great.... I don't know why people go for complicated rituals and all that for simple everyday things, cos really, none of it is truly needed :D

Also I think that by being in your everyday environment (ie. looking after your kid) while doing the spell, i guess it brought to the spell the essence which is you :D My impression of spells for the homemaker witch is that if casting spells doesnt fit comfortably into your life, routine, budget and values, that kind of spellcasting isnt really for ya.

Well I wasnt that calm, I was irritated about it but I just went back and refocused and said "well if it doesn't work then the interruption may be why."
