Do you want someone you can meet in person? (not just interenet based) if so which parts of England and France are you in?

Try the networking section of WitchVox www.witchvox.com
there have also been some great posts here and articles on WitchVox on things to look for in a teacher and warning signs of bad teachers.

Good luck!

There is an online school at www.witchschool.com that is run by a real Wiccan Church, called the Correllian Nativist Church which has excellent lessons for beginners, and offers mentoring by email. They are also trying to translate their lessons into french and are looking for people to help them. The lessons are free, but if you want a personal mentor, you do have to become a supporting member and give a donation.

You can find them here: www.witchschool.com and info about the Church is here: www.correllian.com

I would recommend Witchvox (http://www.witchvox.com) for help finding local people who may be able to teach you. As far as online teaching, read posts by people on this site, if you find someone that you can respect, use PM to ask questions. I would always recommend personal, face-to-face training over anything online. So keep looking around, often if you have pagan-friendly stores or other places that you find pagans gathering you may also inquire in those groups and places for people that may be able to help you.

I would say that when it comes to online training vs in person training you have to take quality into consideration. Crappy training is crappy training weither it's online or in person. Always ask for letters of recomendation, any good teacher should have a "Pagan Resume".

You might also want to keep this in mind: The Seeker's Bill of Rights (http://www.betwixt.org/bnb_info/seekers.asp)

III. The Right to Financial Stability: Seekers shall not be required or coerced to take on financial burdens on behalf of a teacher or a group.

I like that little piece.. I think special attention should be paid to this part, online 'schools' often violate this one.

I would prefer in person, it makes it easier. I am in sud-manche (near Mont Saint Michel). In England i am based in Portsmouth, i know one pagan/wiccan in Fareham. He owns a metaphysical store there that is brilliant, but its rare that i am in england so that doesnt work. I'll try witchvox, and see what i can find there....thanx guys

Yes, they do, but I'm glad that witchschool has free access to the first degree, and if you want to subcribe you can do so for $20 a year and take up to 5 classes at one time. That's a real bargan.

This is very tentative, so don't get your hopes up...but I'm almost certain I'll be doing that program where you go to France for six months to teach English, but probably not until October of 2006 (about a year and a half then)...if I were assigned close to your area would you be up for working with me? I'm still learning, of course, but by that point I'll have been in the craft for almost 6 years or so, and I think that you can gain insight from anybody, not just an HPs with years and years of experience...let me know what you think, and I'll let you know if I'll be in the area.
