I, AR, do hearby invoke the awesome power of the community that is Mystic Wicks!!
:D
I want another baby... (awwww).... however, because I gained like 50lbs with my last baby, and I refuse to let my weight climb over 300lbs, I have decided that before having another baby I need to lose 100lbs.
My husband doesn't want another baby....yet. However, I got him to agree to start trying once I have lost the desired weight.
Unfortunately, this hasn't been a good enough motivator for me.
I'm an attention whore. I get off on praise, respect and well wishes. The idea that others may think badly of me, or be disappointed in me makes me nervous and anxious.
The last time I lost weight, 70lbs, it was because of the program I was on, but it was also because I was the inspiration for at least 30 clients who saw me every day. I had my own little weightloss chart on my desk and people could see how well I was doing, and could tell me how proud they were, and how good I looked. That was the motivation I needed to lose the weight.
So I know what I need to do, physically and nutrionally... some of they hypnosis programming from years ago still exists in my brain (aside from the whole no sugar part -- I tried to break the habit of eating sweets a couple of months ago, but I discovered that sugar to me is an addiction. And while I went an entire month without it, after the month was up, one cookie eventually led to an entire tray of brownies....sigh..... so for me, it's all or nothing.).
Anyway.... I just need the psychological boost. That's why I'm rambling on about this to you guys. I'm gonna put up a weightloss ticker, like some on the forum have, right after I buy myself a scale this weekend. I'd really appreciate it if every once in a while you could acknowledge my progress, and give me a little of that motivation I require.
Thanks! :)

I sure will - I'm in a similar boat as you.
I'm going to WW and find that going to the meetings and getting weighed in each week helps. Plus I've joined the MW WW thread in H&B and everyone's a great support there.
Good luck - you can do this! :hugz:

I hear ya! I was already overweight when I got pregnant and now I'm still 10 pounds over that weight. All in all I need to lose 40 pounds. I have never dieted before and I avoid exercise like the plague hehehe I also have high cholesterol so I need to exercise and lost weight!
But I would also like to make dietary changes that I can live with for life. Not quick weight loss plans with no permanent affect. My biggest food challenge is my sweet tooth.

ra ra! sis boom ba!
damn, what rhymes with ba? lol, ra and nothing else applicable to an encouraging response!
good luck anyway! and have you tried mixing up a little metamucil and drinking it down with water before meals? stevia is a great sugar substitute, as well as splenda, neither of which will trigger insulin-crazed brownie attacks.
you can do it! may the power of greystone be with you. lol. excuse me, i'm loopy today.

Hey, I am with you on this! I just started to try to lose weight myself...and in fact, yesterday, after some consultation in the Pagan Weight Watchers thread....I started a thread for low cal, low fat, or low carb recipes in the same forum (health and beauty, i think) there is only one recipe in there right now, but we can add more and more as we come up with creative, healthy good for us food that we can share!
Behind you all the way,

hah I tried the low cal, low fat, low carb diets... the only thing that was low was my spirits as I was constantly feeling hungry.
Amethyst Rose
March 3rd, 2005, 05:28 PM
Yup. The one thing I learned, during my previous weightloss success, was that low cal and low fat foods are virtually useless. All they do is make you eat more, cuz you end up more hungry. Low carb is what works for me though, or at least it did the last time....low carb, high protein...you don't get hungry on high protein.

I need to loose weight too...and I am trying to do it healthy. I'll take on that challenge to see how much we can loose till April. Maybe it will give me the incentive to work harder at it....I love friendly compitition and a challenge!

Hey, i'll join with you! I just got a new job, one which has me working outdoors, so that in itself should help. More sensible food, and whoo-hoo, I could be on my way!
I have... wow, at least 70lbs to go.
See, about two years ago, I started at nearly 290. I went down to 215, held it, took a medication for a while, and exploded back to 250 >.<
My goal is 180.
=D Let's a go! Isn't there a site that has some silly kind of counter you can put in your siggy? Let's put it there!

I do. I get hungry on anything except carb. Seriously, I could eat four steaks and be hungry an hour later unless I had some carb with it! But it works differently for everyone :cutie: Just don't entirely cut out carbs - that's very unhealthy.

That is why I included a spot for low carb recipes...my hubber is going that route....I just think that cooking healthier, (whatever way works for ya) can get boring or you can run out of ideas, and having new recipes to try seems to help me...
Moondragn, I am not talking about a "diet" necessarily, but just changin eating habits in a way that works for "you" and helps one get healthier and is easy to stick to....for me, it is a lot easier to change from having bacon and eggs to having a piece of fruit and a bowl of special K, than it would be to eat a crapload of meat and no fruit, eat butter but no bread, etc.

hehe I got one!
I can't do the low-carb dieting thing. I end up unable to think, I faint, and just generally get sick as a dog.
BUT the whole starvation dieting works for me. It's how I lost (and kept off) 80lbs before. Just by barely eating anything and taking walks ;) and what I did eat was healthy - lots of baby carrots, yogurts, toast (not dry, just two slices), a heafty multivitamin, TONS and TONS of water, mmm water... and I had those slimfast shakes for lunch. Awesome things, those shakes. The Equate brand (walmart) taste even better, amazingly. Sometimes I'd eat these natural organic versions of "Lunchables", only it was by some other company. They were really yummy, too.
My special treat was chicken ceasar salad when I went out to eat. Aww, man it was good then.

My biggest challenge is exercise. I hardly eat as it is.... breakfast if I remember... what my son didn't eat for lunch... healthy dinner, at least 1/2 of the time (gotta stay away from pizza and burgers), and I never over eat. I do snack too often though....
But exercise... I'm a SAHM mom with a very independant son. I just close of the rooms and the stairs, and let him go, and don't have to do anything. So I spend my day sitting on the couch, browsing forums. I need to do something to get up and get moving.

Exercise sucks but I started. I bought a DVD at Wal Mart for 10 bucks it's Denise Austin and you can customize your workout. It's called Personal Training. It's a start. Dancing to some music is a good idea too. I'd start out being active for 20 minutes and work from there. I did a 45 minute workout after work today, I feel good! :)

Oh, there are also a ton of exercises that you can do with your kids - if you check out some of the baby/parenting websites, they can give you some ideas.
www.babycenter.com is a good one.
Good luck!

Oiy! I sooo need to loose 100 pounds as well... but heck, I'd be satisfied to loose 60 to 80 pounds at this point... Low carb worked for me... heck, they used to call me the Atkins Paladin because my faith in the program was unwavering... and I had self discipline and strength out the wazoo... but... my now ex-husband kept needling and needling and causing cracks in my barriers until I could finally stand it no longer and threw my hands up in the air and gave up... I gained all the weight back, plus some... and I'm now sooo badly addicted to the carbs, way worse than before... that it's very hard to get back... I just have to have my sugar... my chocolate... lol But... I need to do this too... After I get my tax refund... I'm going to get myself a scale... and I'm going to see about getting an exercise machine - I'm thinking an elliptical trainer... and I'll put up a ticker as well... and we'll see how well we can do together! =) Just a note, there is a Pagan Weight Watchers thread in Health and Beauty that you might want to check out... I've not read it all, so I don't know if it's just geared to that program or just general weight loss, but it might help gain you some encouragement... =) I wish you the best of luck, and we can do this... all of us together!!! We can all loose the weight we want! =)

Count me in on the needing to lose some baby weight group. I'm definitely cheering you on! What a great motivation you have - a baby at the end of your weight loss journey. Awwww. I'm getting a little wistful there too. I was on the 6 week body makeover thing and I lost 20 pounds in a monthand so did my mom who had less then me to lose. It worked really well and I felt great and amazingly wasn't hungry all the time either but then Thanksgiving came around and I got the taste of sugar again with the pumpkin pie and cookies and I just haven't been able to get back to it yet. My sweet tooth is my downfall. I'm hoping I'll be really inspired while cheering you on. I want to lose 40 lbs.
Good luck to you and to everyone else who is trying to lose that extra weight!

It might seem counter intuitive, but if you start eating a decent sized breakfast, it will be a lot easier to lose weight. If you don't eat breakfast, your metabolism doesn't get started, and it stores the rest of the food from the day as fat, because it thinks you are starving.
Exercise - well, with spring on the way, it should be a lot easier to get out and about with your son! Are there any other mothers in your area that you could do daily walks with or something?
Amethyst Rose
March 4th, 2005, 02:29 PM
Yes, I know.... I've only just started eating breakfast again in the past month. I know that your body goes into "starvation mode" after 6 hours of no food, and starts to retain callories as fat, inpreparation for a fast....so breakfast is really important, to get it burning callories again. That's one of the things I learned when I worked inthe weight loss clinic.... I learned tons...everything I need to lose the weight, so I have that working for me. :)

I have just recently stopped blaming my weight issues on the fact that I had a baby. He's 9! LOL!
I started bellydancing last year to help lose weight. I love it. It's so much fun and it's the best workout I've ever had. My dog loves it when I dance with him. My son and I dance together too. I am more likely to stick to a workout if it is something I thoroughly enjoy. And dancing certainly is enjoyable.
