Gah. This morning I woke up, and my plant-fiend cat had munched on one of the leaves of my growing calla lily that I'd just moved into a different window. To be safe, I looked it up on the web, and it's on the "toxic to cats" list. :G So now I'm debating on calling a vet and asking advice, or just waiting to see if she actually gets sick...

And I have to get rid of the calla. Go figure. :hairred:

Apparently I'm gonna have to plant a huge pot of grass and catnip for her so she leaves mine alone! She's already destroyed my two lucky bamboo plants by munching on them until they're ragged and ugly...

*sighsighsigh*

probably good to call the vet.

probably good to call the vet.

I agree. Just to make sure that she'll be alright. It's good to be one the safe side *nods*

Poor Cala lilly, they're my favorite I had a garden of them in my old house.

I had no Idea that they were allregic to cats... Hmmmm... I don't think our Reces ever tried to eat them though.

Good Luck!

Ack! What is it with pets and plants? Take the advice of the others and check with you vet or poison control, but I think Calla's are on the safe list. Those are my favorite flower!

Ahhh what a catastrophy :( I hope she doesn't go catatonic, you need to get her to that vet and have her looked at before she catlapses.

Is it the leaf or the flower that is toxic?

Either way, yeah. Vet checking is best. If your cat is eating all your plants, that means she's got an upset tummy and isn't getting what she needs from her food. Keeping a pot of cat grass around will make her really happy, and you might consider changing food brands.

There are numerous plants that are toxic to cats, as well as some foods. Do NOT feed your animals onions--not a good thing for them at all. And chocolate is dangerous for both dogs and cats.

Poison safe your home for your pets:
