I am wondering where most people gather their crystals? We have a few "new age" shops about an hour away but everything is so expensive. Does anyone shop online? Have you had success with that?
Thanks!

I usually get mine during pagan festivals, people sell alot of them there. Incidentally last night I had a dream where somehow I got a hold of a very clear large quartz. Wonder what that was about.

Being you live in NC there's lots of gem shows. They normally cost less there then from a new age shop. :) Depending on where in NC and the stone you want there's also places can go to find em in the ground. :) I've occasionally bought off ebay too but be careful because I've noticed some stones mislabeled and hard to tell from pictures if a stone has been dyed.

Just plain stones? I buy them online :) There is this WHOLESALE place... (The good part is, lots of selection, the bad part is... you have to order $50 worth of STOCK stones..... --- It's a WHOLESALE online store....)

Another location where I have bought stones.. is from Robyn, at her store at

Thanks everyone! I'll check into the links provided and I'm also going to research the gem shows - that sounds like fun!

i go out into nature and find them (in small quanties.....I'm not looking to destroy the earth by picking up everyone I meet) and polish some of them myself and keep others rough. Also via my work I gain new ones from other countries

I've had good luck looking for local lapidary, rock shops. I've found great larger specimens that way at reasonable prices. Whenever we move (military) I run lapidary and rock shop searches on the online yellow pages and then make road trips to find them.
We learn the area and have fun with an actual end goal at the same time, so if I'm not interested when I get there, I've usually found something else between here and there on the trip.
