View Full Version : Something interesting happened when smoking a stone

Hi Guys,

I was using incense to cleanse an obsidian sphere I got recently, and noticed something strange.

See, my friend and I put the sphere on top of a metal grill so we could have our hands free and move the incense tray around to cleanse the crystal properly.

At first the incense just diffused in all directions. Then, it started to cling to the sphere and spiral upwards in a dance-like movement. When that happened, my friend and I noticed that the smoke from the incense seemed to look like it was lightly coloured!

I checked the incense smoke and noticed that it was normal and white, but as it passed around the sphere it started looking like it was coloured this strange peach-bluish (?) hue.

I wonder if anyone else has had this thing happen while "smoking" their stones. If so, please let me know if there is any reason this thing should be happening. Is it a good thing or bad thing?

I've never had that happen myself, but I can't see as how it would be bad.

Obsidian is, for all intensive purposes, glass.

It is volcanic glass. Glass is one of the most non-reactive materials on the planet. That's why almost all science and medical equipement is composed of glass. Therefore it could not have been a chemical reaction of the smoke or stone. (Although the grill would enter into the equation)

I would imagine it had more to do, with whatever you guys were attempting to do to the stone - eg. clearing, placing intentions upon, dedicating, spell work, invoking ??? You didn't mention the purpose of the smoking but I'd look there for the answer.

actually we were cleansing the stone and running some energies through it to sorta enhance/build its energy field..... (if such a thing is possible)

I kinda realised too late that the obsidian sphere I bought was kinda low on energy. (Well, I am very very attracted to shiny stuff and I bought the sphere cos I was kinda going goo goo over it and forgot to check for energy level...:P) I tried everything, sunning it, mooning it, running it through flowing water.... you name it.

Finally we decided to bring out some incense and while smoking it, we ran some appropriate energies through it.

Well, the obsidian is buzzing a little more now, but I think its just a really dense stone...:P hard to try and change its nature......

:reading: :javaswim: According to my understanding..... obsidian is an energy IN stone rather than an energy OUT stone... I would suggest you consider your goo goo ga ga love of its shiny self to have been a result of its protective powers held on your behalf... :2G: possibly, see that orb as a great huge black guardian dog-like creature.... Peach color loves.. is protective nourishing as a nursery rhyme.... Let the orb be there to guard you. A giant black hole sucking up any danger. :weirdsmil Rosewoodsea

Hihi all,

thanks for the posts and suggestions ya all made. I decided to post an update on this topic cos there has been a new development.

I went to the home of my meditation instructor and she had this huge tibetan singing bowl, a real antique where you can see the dents where the craftsmen beat the metal into shape. Anyways, I heard about using sound to cleanse and charge stones, so I just put my obsidian orb inside and sounded the bowl by running the wooden mallet around the edge. Then I took the orb out and held it in my hand.

I did this same thing 3 times, and when I picked it out on the 3rd time, the orb was buzzing with energy. And the energy even kept buzzing long after I brought it home with me.

Has anyone here ever had the same experience? Do post up your thoughts.

Wow, I have a Tibetan singing bowl and I'd never thought of using it to cleanse and charge my stones. That's a great idea. I can see how that would be effective, that's a really interesting idea. Will have to try it and let you know what happens. :D

not all stones need to feel like they are charged to the brim with energy. Like some people some stones work better when relaxed instead of charged up like it had 100 cups of coffee. If you want all your crystals to be zappy crystals I recommend buying lots of clear quartz.

Just a note about the singing bowls. My Reiki/Crystal teacher mentioned to us that some crystals can not handle actually being placed inside the bowl, she has had a few crack or shatter. She now places them outside the bowl. Just thought I would mention this in case anyone wanted to try it. :-)

hmmmmmm... I guess i should have mentioned it. Ya dont place crystals on their own with the crystal surface actually touching the bowl..... you gotta cushion it a little.
usually I blu tack the crystal (so it is actually restinf on a cushion of blu tack) inside the bowl or place the sphere on a stand and place both sphere and stand inside the bowl. This way, when the bowl vibrates, the crystal doesnt move around and chip or break.

actually my main reason for keeping the obsidian charged is that I use it during meditations to help me see unseen things as they really are. I kinda realised as I used it that it needed constant recharging because it didnt really have a strong field to start with, hence my experiments in charging the stone.

Since I charged it regularly, the stone has been getting heavier. Quite awhile ago, I took it to a crystal dealer to get it appraised, the guy picked up the stone and said that it was rather light for a stone of that size and that its energy field was rather small. I tried picking up other obsidians of the same size and noticed the difference in weight as well as size of energy field.
