We have been toying with the idea of getting a dog and so after Loralie had a total hissy over seeing the nextdoor neighbors dogs, we decided we'll go ahead and get one.

So then we had to decide what kind and the 1st thing that popped in my head was a siberian husky, this breed has been calling to me for years but we just couldn't have a dog at the time. After also considdering a few others we read up more on huskies and found a breeder. Instead of getting a $450 puppy that we don't have the time to train and go thru hyper puppy stuff with she has a 2 yr old male that shes trying to find a home for for only $200.

The only reason she is selling him is because a friend she had sold him to as a puppy had MS just had to get him neutered although he is a quality show dog. Then her MS got worse and she had to give him back to the breeder. The breeder said she can't use him because she can't breed or even show a neutered dog, she hates that that woman just had to neuter him because she would be keeping him he's so beautiful. His entire bloodline is AKC show champions. His name is Dylan and he sounds perfect for our family, very cuddly, good with cihldren and very strong (he'll make a great running partner for my husband. We are going to see him Saturday (90 miles away) to see if he connects with us and if so we'll bring him home.

He's black and white with those stunning blue eyes most huskies have. Here is a link to what he looks like. His grandmother is the top dog named Nadia, he's supposed to look exactly like her just a little bigger. The 4th pic down is his grandfather Cio and the bottom picture is his father Magick.

As you can tell I'm excited, oh I hope we all click. :ballonsmi

Oh me too, I have high hopes. And I know pets can help lower stress and I need that, we don't have any other pets now except for my salt aquarium. We had a parrot we had to give to my mother but he was the opposite of stress lowering, lol He's so happy living with her now. :)

I hope you enjoy your bundle of energy....and that he will be!! Hyper puppy stuff doesn't go away in two years....expect much hyper puppy stuff for oh, at least another 3 years!! Also, make sure you've got chew toys galore...huskies can get bored very easy and turn into chewers, and they will chew anything!!

Oh, and don't forget to brush and save his fur...husky fur can be spun into wonderful yarn...there are many spinners for hire on the internet.... :hehehehe:

Hope you have the room for him to run! Huskies are work dogs and have the power to burn, they need serious exercise everyday or they get depressed. Also look into a proper dog training course cause he'll need it.

Good luck!!!

I'm sure you didn't mean for it to sound that way but this isn't our 1st dog. My husband and I grew up with Chows, Samoyeds, and Rottweileers ;) Yeah if we do decide he's for us we are going shopping, I'm going to start putting together a list today just in case so nothing is forgotten. But if not then she said she'll put us on a list for one of her puppys when their born here soon. Most people always want little puppies and the older ones have to stay stuck in kennels, I have this strong urge to give this young guy a good home. :hahugh:

Spinners huh, I'll keep that in mind thanks.

Nope, I never meant it to sound like it's your first dog. :D

From my own experience, I have found huskies to be alot more energetic than most dogs. When I had my girl, I lost 25lbs in two months just on her day to day walks....she still was bored. We spent every weekend out in the woods, letting her run until she dropped....during the week, she still was bored, and chewed and chewed and chewed. I lost many a pair of shoes to that hound  as well as a couple chairs, and the corner of my couch!

Now she lives in the country with my sister, where she works as a sled dog....finally she's not bored! :bundled:

If you believe in fate or omens at all, I'd say it's an excellent portent that you're able to bring a "little Magick" into your life in the form of a wonderful furkid.

Aw thanks, yes theres probably something to learn from this and since I've wanted one for soooo long I smell totem animal here I think. I personally have stuff in common with this breeds personality.

Congratulations! Huskies are beautiful and intelligent dogs.

Very, very energetic and are sort of like beagles with their distinctive howl/bark thing they do. Of course that's what gives them a great deal of character. Enjoy your new family member.

i have a husky!

he's solid white with blue eyes.

i got him for 80.00 at the pound.

make sure you cement the base of your fence and that the height is plenty tall as

huskys are escape artists.-among other things,

i absolutly adore mine, he is strong and beautiful and gentle and mischievous!

Welcome to the Nordic Breeds, again. :)

It looks like he comes from a good working kennel.

 I'd definitely invest in some good winter clothing, to keep your new boy happy and fit. Carting, sledding, skijoring and hiking are great in your areas for sibs and malamutes. The rescues for sibs host a lot of working events for sibs and malamutes in your area.

Congrats on your new boy!

That's nice for them to do for people who live here but winter is ending now and we only have one winter left in Missouri with the military before we move next fall.

Yay we were able to go look at Dillon today instead of having to wait till tomorrow. I was right, it was love at 1st site. This is one handsome dog, better looking than most she had. We got to see his father and grandfather up close. So we brought him home and he is playing all over. I'll post a picture of him very soon. He is a sweetie.

Speaking of beagles we have a new beagle in the neighborhood that likes to howl. My two Malamutes join in with him.

My husband use to have a husky growing up. They're very good dogs! He wants to get another one someday when we have a much bigger yard. :)
