Hope all of you will come visit me in my hut! This last weekend the family and I went to Muskogee and began painting the hut and getting it ready for the next step of moving in display units and putting up fabric wall coverings, and planting flowers, and ....... :twitch:
The faire starts in only 18 Days! :jawdrop:

Awesome, I had no idea that it was starting up that soon, I went to last year's and had a blast. I'll definately be there this year. It'll be nice to be able to meet and talk with people who follow a similiar path in person. (The only pagans I know are online.)

Hey --
Where are you located? You can come talk to Mol, Rick, myself, Freyja and Lunacie this weekend if you want to come to Tulsa...we'll all be in the same place.
http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=91154
Check that out...you can see everyone twice if you want then!

Wasn't intentional...just trying to hook a guy up. It can be pretty lonely out there when you think you're alone.
That said...you guys GOTTA go to this fair in Muskogee. Last inhabitant of DC's hut got kicked out for wearing jeans...they take this stuff SERIOUS there.
DC you've got more dedication to this than I would.

This weekend I start putting dragons on the shelves and seeing how everything looks out in the daylight. I want to do this all this weekend, because...... Next weekend is the opening of the Faire!!! :colorful:
I'm getting so excited, and to borrow a Middling Faire term: I'm ready to Blorfulate! :blor:

Plan all you want to go to bed early...it never happens. I always end up going to bed later than I intended even when I want to get to bed early. There is always something that happens to change that.
I bet you end up with another creative breath of wind and end up doing the same thing tonight.

Uhhhh, (looks around - nope, no salvation over in that corner), uhhh, well, right after I finished typing (if I talk fast enough she won't notice how I snow her with bs) I logged onto a few other boards while waiting for the timer on the oven to go off, and then well, uhh, I came back to MW and then the timer went off and I went downstairs and took the little feller out of the oven and then unplugged it (it's a toaster oven for the small pieces), and then turned out the lights and went to the bathroom to wash my face and get into my Dr. Denton's. Crawled into bed and then had to get up again to let the Cat into the room, and then, yeah, I was in bed.
Oh, and yeah, uh, it was about 11:20 p.m. Better than the night before.

Many thanks, my dear! Coolish weather is not a problem, cloaks can remedy that issue, but when the heavens open upon the hapless traveller to Castleton, then they do scurry so, in such an unseemly manner, that it gives one to chuckle, yet causes them to mutter discontentedly. Then they are loath to shop as freely.
So work your magic, Weather Witch, and accept my heartfelt thanks in this matter! _pounce_

We'll be making one last trip out to the faire tonight for last minute setup and then home to make a few more dragons. I am excited - I heard who my assigned cast member is, and my son knows him, they used to act in the Guard together - I'm to be paired with the Undersheriff, Christian Heart. He's already contacted me via the OKRF board and we'll meet tomorrow morning to say hi.
I really don't want to be here at work today, with so many things going through my head that are not work related. I'll probably not be able to stand it much later, and will leave early, but we'll see..... :achug:

The crowd was a bit on the sparse side today, but that was okay. Gave us a chance to get our selling legs, so to speak. Made a few small sales, and one nice sale. Bought daughter Katie some Medieval Moccasins, like I have had for years and like Elise bought at Norman; Katie loves them. Bought Vetteman and myself some anter handled spoon/fork sets. Didn't get Roger anything this time around - he has everything he needs.
And!! I got to meet ShadowcatX! He is a very nice young man and a pleasure to talk with. Thank you so much for making The Dragon's Chest your first stop!

Sales were better today, due in part to a last minute purchase by a cast member while we were closing up for the day. She swooped in, pointed at the pearl pink OM, and said "that one - please buy me that one!" The fellow she was with dutifully dug into his pouch and produced the money. I did manage to make him crack a smile when I told him that fellow vendors and cast members get a discount. But boy, he anted up right sharp! _catroll_
So now I can pay my two employees (the kids!), and they are happy. Thanks all for the good show juju! I need three more weekends worth, if you don't mind, and then I'm collapsing from exhaustion.

Tomorrow, Friday May 6th, is Student Day at the Faire. Buses upon buses will descend upon Castleton, not unlike the horde of Huns to sweep across Asia generations ago. :yikess: Those buses will disgorge students from first grade to those in high school, all armed with the energy that only a field trip can imbue them with.
I have made bunches of the little rose pins that sell for $4.00; they make great Mother's Day gifts, and are very affordable for the students.
Now, if only I could do this :achug: while guarding, I mean manning, my hut tomorrow, everything would be fine. Vetteman will be there, thank goodness, so I won't be alone. _inabox_

Today is Mother's Day and every mother deserves to be treated like a Queen. And that's exactly what will happen when you bring Mom out to the Castle!
Sales were very decent yesterday, and today will hopefully be just as nice. I think my piece of citrine is finally kicking in!
I'll be very busy this week making more dragons to restock the shelves. Sleep is something that I won't have the priviledge of meeting for awhile.
GUESS WHAT?!!! Do you remember the Pen-Dragon series? King Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin and Lancelot? Well, a young girl, about 14, talked her mother into buying Lancelot for her yesterday! Booyah baby! And, she also got a wish pot dragon - a totally amazing sale and one that made me quite happy, as you can imagine. But for Lancelot to have a home, I'm so pleased!
Must go get ready for the faire today -- hope to see you there! :hailmol:

Mother's Day was an okay day, we spent more at other booths than we pulled in on ours. We're never going to get ahead that way! :fishsmack The sales were not so hot for us, but we had a great time. Always do, at faire!
The kids spent the money they earned while working my booth on a Mother's Day necklace for me at one of my favorite booths at faire: Storm Watch Jewelry -- a beautiful garnet teardrop set in a celtic trinity knot. Those kids do know how to please the Mama! There's a link to them on my site.

Well, the Faire is over for this year. We had a great run of wonderful weather, and even though the last weekend was HOT and sticky, we still had a great time and got to meet lots of neat folks (ShadowCatX and Memnoch McKiln both came by on this weekend again).
Sales were good enough to pay for the hut for next year (I'll be in the same place!), pay the kids for each day they were there to help out with the hut, buy food and goodies (bought too much of both, but the food is so good, and the goodies are so cool and I had to have them, ya know? _whistle_ ), and I got to do some trades with one of my favorite musical groups, Howl-o (http://howl-o.com/) -- an OM dragon for three of their CDs, and still have a bit left over to deposit into the bank. (I know OM has been adopted by really cool, loving folks, and they are marvelous musicians.)
I also got a command performance in front of my hut by another marvelous singing group, Queen's Gambit (http://www.queens-gambit.com/). They did the song "Threes", from the Mercedes Lackey story of Kethry and Tarma, a sorceress and a swordwoman, "Oathbound" is the name of one of the books. Mercedes Lackey is a Tulsa resident, and besides being an author, she and her husband are certified bird of prey rehabilitators.
I really love being part of the renaissance world and family. This is making me more solid in my thoughts of working towards a retirement that includes travelling the faire circuit in this part of the country. Faire folk are good folk and I am honored to be accepted as a member of this world.
Thanks to all the MW folks who were able to visit me, and I hope you enjoyed your experience! And thank you to all the MWers who have helped me to have courage and confidence in myself to continue doing this.
Mostly, thank you to my wonderful husband and children -- without their support and love, none of this would be possible, or worth it. I love you, Vetteman! I love you, kids!
