Ok, now I don't know very much about Astrology, but I went to astrolabe and got this report and a whole lot of it seems very unlike me. How accurate do you think these things are? Is there anything in my chart, which I don't really understand very much, that might change the way astrolabe decided to interperate them?

Name: Elizabeth Marie Hamilton
December 28 1983
10:19 AM Time Zone is EST
Oswego, NY

Rising Sign is in 24 Degrees Aquarius
You like new ideas and concepts, but you prefer to discover them by yourself -- it is not easy for others to convert you to anything. You form your own opinions, but once you do form them, you then want to convince everyone else that they are correct. Try to be more tolerant of the opinions of others. You have a deep and abiding interest in science, mathematics, and the great social problems of the day. Very sympathetic toward the downtrodden, equality is your battle cry! You demand that those in authority be fair to all. You are an intellectual -- emotions and emotional people are difficult for you to understand. You are known for being calm, cool, detached and objective.

Sun is in 06 Degrees Capricorn.
Extremely serious and mature, you are capable of accepting responsibilities and do so willingly. Others expect you to be dutiful as a matter of course. You tend to get angry when people get rewards after not having worked anywhere near as hard as you. You are goal-oriented and an achiever by nature -- you're a hard worker and are justifiably proud of the tangible results of your efforts. You tend to have "tunnel-vision" -- this allows you to block out extraneous matters that might distract others and to concentrate totally on the matter at hand. As such, you are the ideal one to manage or administrate any ongoing project and to be practical and efficient at it. You are not a fast worker, but you are quite thorough. You are known for being totally persistent, tenacious and tireless in reaching your goals.

Moon is in 29 Degrees Libra.
Affectionate, warm and friendly, life must be a "beautiful" experience for you. Unpleasantness should be avoided at all costs. You tend to overlook other people's faults and you would rather give in than fight. You are uncomfortable with strangers, but at ease and sociable with friends and associates. Indeed, you would rather socialize than work -- you can use your prodigious charm to avoid unpleasant tasks. You need the support and assistance of another in order to get you started on any new project -- you are not a self-starter. Be careful of a tendency to be overly self-indulgent (i.e., lazy). Your refined aesthetic sensibilities attract you to music, dance, art and any other cultured activity.

Mercury is in 12 Degrees Capricorn.
You are a careful thinker, very cautious and conservative. You are quite skillful at organizing, directing and planning activities. Practical and useful things interest you -- you are not attracted to abstract thoughts or ideas. With your tendency to be highly focused and very goal-oriented, you have a good head for business. But beware of a tendency to be narrow-minded and dogmatic. Your sense of humor tends toward being earthy and slapstick crude.

Venus is in 25 Degrees Scorpio.
Your feelings about others are deep, powerful, intense and complex. When you like someone, you do so totally and obsessively if you do not like someone, they do not exist. Your faithfulness and loyalty to your lover is unquestioned, indeed at times it is too much so -- you get so possessive that you almost smother your partner. At times, your feelings are kept deep within you and, because they are so complex and intense, they frighten you -- this is the way that you try to ignore them. But the more you try to do this, the more explosive things get when you eventually do express them.

Mars is in 22 Degrees Libra.
You are very aware of the need to cooperate with others in order to further any effort. You are usually willing to compromise with others, although you can be quite competitive in a friendly way. Very fair- minded and impartial, you have the ability to sense injustice and the desire to take corrective actions to make proper compensations. You see both sides of issues and questions, but you tend to be undecided or wavering when forced to make choices that might make you vulnerable or unpopular.

Jupiter is in 25 Degrees Sagittarius.
You have a very strong sense of ethics and morality. You are widely read and may also be widely traveled because you are sincerely interested in expanding your knowledge of the world about you. At times, you have an annoying tendency to be self-righteous and preachy about your belief system. You are usually quite idealistic and you demand the right to be able to explore the entire world of experiences yourself. Remember to grant others the similar right -- be tolerant, not dogmatic.

Saturn is in 13 Degrees Scorpio.
You tend to release emotional energies only very reluctantly. This is partly due to your fear of what horrible calamity might occur should they be released -- your emotions are terribly complicated and intense. Try not to repress these energies entirely, however, or you will succumb to negative and destructive forms of compulsive behavior. Give yourself the freedom to look awkward or silly once in a while. The relief you feel will be quite therapeutic and the embarrassment (whether it is real or imagined) will pass quickly.

Uranus is in 10 Degrees Sagittarius.
You, and most of your peers, have the tendency to think that all ideas, customs and traditions from the past are outmoded and irrelevant. You are attracted to radically new ideas, philosophies and religions that will, hopefully, cause sweeping changes throughout the world.

Neptune is in 29 Degrees Sagittarius.
You, and your entire generation, are heavily involved in investigating and idealizing foreign and exotic intellectual systems and religious philosophies. The most extreme ideals will be pursued with gusto. You will be at the forefront of humanitarian attempts to improve the lot of those who are in need of assistance. You will be comfortable with the concept of the "global village."

Pluto is in 01 Degrees Scorpio.
For your entire generation, this is a period of intense research and discovery in areas that were heretofore considered mysterious, remote or taboo. The root causes for many complex occurrences will be unearthed due to the intensity and thoroughness of the search.

N. Node is in 15 Degrees Gemini.
You will consciously seek out many different contacts with others throughout your life. Many of these will be of very short duration, not necessarily because you're fickle, but just because you always seem to be more excited by the prospect of meeting someone new rather than prolonging your present relationships. At any rate, you will learn something new from almost everyone you come across -- intellectual stimulation is what you crave from others. You will be well known to neighbors and relatives, partly due to your curiosity about what they're doing -- you delight in keeping up-to-date about the latest news (and gossip).

Yes - the problem with computerised reports like this is that they only look at planets in signs, and not the relationship between the planets. For instance, you have Pluto in Scorpio - well, so does your entire generation, so the interpretation for Pluto in Scorpio (which is all about addressing taboo subjects) isn't really about you, it's about your generation and what happened in the 1980s. Moon in Libra, on the other hand, is something personal to you - but the usual interpretation of Moon in Libra (and I happen to have Moon in Libra too) is that because Libra likes harmony and balance, then Moon in Libra is a people pleaser and won't argue.

Now, this may be true for some Moon in Libra people, but what the Astrolabe report doesn't take into account is that you have a Pluto/Moon/Mars conjunction, and that your Moon is in very late degrees of Libra. This is an intense, powerful combination, and far from suggesting that "life is beautiful" and that you don't like arguments, that your childhood saw some immense power struggles going on in your family dynamics, probably with mother, and that you may now be incorporating these same patterns in your life as an adult. That Moon, far from being all light and fluffy and thinking everything's wonderful, is sandwiched between a powerful Pluto and a frustrated Mars, all in the 8th house of death and sex. This Moon is more likely to see life as a struggle than all fluffy and nice.

Similarly, your rising sign of Aquarius means that people may see you as detached and independent - as the interpretation says - but there's a lot more to it than that. Your chart rulers are Saturn (rules both Capricorn - your Sun sign - and Aquarius) and Uranus. Uranus is significant in the chart of anyone with Aquarius rising, but in your chart he's right at the top and on the South Node. Your Uranus is much stronger than a simple computerised interpretation would suggest - and although Uranus may be independent and detached, he's not always calm and collected. Uranus is the revolutionary - he's fiercely independent, can be explosive and disruptive, but is ultimately humanitarian. Revolutionaries are not always "calm" - they can be "hotheads" and if someone messes with you, they will see those explosive tendencies. That's because Uranus is right on your MC and is a powerful planet in your chart - and a computerised interpretation won't spot that.

Capricorn Suns are noted for being mature, hardworking and perhaps a little bit stuffy. That's often true, but it is a generalisation. Your serious Capricorn Sun is part of a gang involving Neptune and Jupiter in Sagittarius. So if you think of your planets as actors in a play, instead of thinking of your Sun as the hardworking but rather boring businessperson, think of that Cappie Sun being the "brains" character in a gangster movie - Jupiter is driving the getaway car, Neptune has the totally unrealistic scheme of robbing the bank in the first place, and the Sun is the guy with the glasses who knows how to work out the combination to the safe.

So no - I wouldn't place too much stock in computerised reports. They can only churn out predefined descriptions, and can't see the bigger picture.

I personally don't set much stock in the computerized reports either. There are a few programs that will look at the relationships between the planets in each chart, but even then, the astrologer has to do the hard work. It's really an art . . .

Wow. That makes alot of sense. I am a very unstuffy Capricorn, though I tend to be mature and I'm not very interested in friulties, I have alot of crazy fun. And though I love harmony if anyone messes with my people, there will be fighting, and if there is a cause I beleive in I will argue for it.

Although I've had familial struggles with everyone but my mother :), though I know people expect females to fight with Mom.
