Does the full moon on Halloween represent anything? Is it something special or just coincidence?

Don't say that Willow .... I'm not a big fan of snow. Especially the amount of snow we got here in Ontario last winter...UGH....
Thanks for pointing this out Mist. I'm going to have a nice ritual, celebrating samhain and the full moon at the same time.

Technically, the moon is actually full 3 days before and 3 days after the actual date...it should promise to be a very special holliday.. I am alawys moved spiritually by the full moon, and when it falls on a holiday...its wonderful..

I have a question, when does everyone celebrate Samhain, on Oct. 31, Nov. 1 or Nov. 6? I notice that with the cross-quarter holidays that some celebrate on the "eve" and some celebrate the next day. What do you think?

I think its special ... and isn't the blue moon on November 30th? O well, I'm preparing lots and lots of candy for Halloween ... and i'm going to celebrate Samhain on that night as well, with the candy on my altar to represent the harvest.

Blue Moon - depends where you live. In EST the full moon is on Nov 1st at 12:41am, but in other time zones it is on Oct 31st. If you're time zone shows it on Oct 31st it is the blue moon, if it shows it on Nov 1st then yes the blue moon is on Nov 30th. Confusing ain't it :)
I will probably recognize Samhain on Nov 6th too privately but join lots of public celebration on Oct 31st as every year! :)

As to 'eve' or 'day of'... in the 'olden' days, some cultures considered that the new day began at sunrise, others that it began at sunset. Personally, I celebrate a 'season'. That way, the event lasts longer (any excuse to party!). ;) :p :D :bigredgri 8O :bad:  :mmm: :bubbles:
