Having been curious for awhile, I've made an appointment with a hypnotist for a past life regression. Interested in any experiences you've had with regressions that you might like to share?

I have never had one, but I've always been interested in them. I used to be good friends with someone whose mom was friends with someone who did them...and he told me a little about them. He said they could be good for answering questions and such, but at the same time could be pretty traumatizing...

But I wouldn't know...

Make sure beforehand that you can get your money back if it doesn't work for you... it doesn't always.

Also realise that you might feel as though you're making things up. You might get sensations, intuitions -- your intuitions should be raised in that state -- so just go with them, even if you don't actually see or hear anything. Anything can happen. It can be very effective at releasing present-life blockages, even though you'll probably feel you're making it up... you just have to trust it. That's definitely something I wish I'd known beforehand...

But... especially when something important came up, I knew it was real for me (and important, whether it was an actual past life, or just a metaphor). I know I felt changed and blessed afterwards... It was an explanation for things going on in my life, even if it was a mythical explanation.

Someone's going to give me a hypnotic tape so I can do that kind of session on my own (because I don't think I can be completely open and uncensored with a stranger). I don't know if I'll pay a lot to go to another hypnotist / regression therapist. I may do a past-life reading session, though, with someone who's recommended to me... (I'd really try to make sure the person is recommended before going to anyone).

There has been alot of good advice given here. So I will not repeat most of what has already been said. But I would like to stress to anyone that wants to do past life regressions, be sure that you are ready for it. Most times when dealing with past lives you are going to bring up the ones that need to be worked on, in order to better your life today. I have done many regressions, and many of my past lives brought up tramatic events that needed healing, or there were many that still held parts of myself that I needed to bring back into this life. Just remember that if you go into regression good, then you will relive whatever event you are shown, all the emotions, memories and pain. Now I'm not saying that all regressions are painful or bad, because that's not true, but many times we are having to heal past issues, as to not have to relive them again in this life. Regression is a wonderful thing, and I recommend it to everyone. Just be ready for it when you begin, for it can be a challenging ride.

Many Blessings to all that choose to do this

yea i have regressed lots of times. but in my view, others might disagree, but going to a hypnotist isnt, how do i say, the right way.

I have never been hypnotised, i have always been totally concious, just extremely relaxed, in a meditative state.I just think that when you do go surfing time like that one should be concious and aware. When your under hypnosis, your more susceptible to noises and words effecting the eperiances, i.e. putting stuff into your head.

Thats just what i think though, although after time, i think i should go under hypnosis, to go deeper.

I really want to have one done someday as well. I wish you the best of luck! Whenever I finally become un-broke, I'll look it up myself.

Well, I'm not entirely sure I"m ready for it right now, in light of some of the advice given here, but I have been thinking about it for a while. There are a couple of metaphysical stores that I really trust, very reputable places in town, that have connections & can recommend reputable ppl who can do this for me. But now.......I think I need to think about it some more!

Thanks for the advice!!

I've had one done before and it was nothing like I expected. I had never been hypnotized before so I wasn't sure what to expect out of that. I thought that it was going to be like an out of body experience. But it wasn't at all. The most important advice I can give you is not to go into it with expectations. It wasn't anything like I thought it would be and that made me feel like my experience wasn't valid, but it was. It feels like a daydream because you have total power. To really see, you have to let go. And don't doubt yourself!

Let me know how it turns out!

I've never had it done proffessionally but I've done it a fair few times myself. One time scared me so much I never whent into a detailed regression of another again, just concentrated on certain things from those I have already remembered.

Well, I did have it done and it went well. It was relaxing, probably because I didn't uncover anything traumatic. At first I had trouble staying in the "trance" state, but that got better after a little while. We went through about 5 lives, briefly, all of which were totally unexpected and one that seemed like a science fiction story! When I first left I didn't think I'd done that well, but as time passes I realize more and more that there were good tidbits of information that are helpful to me. I was mostly blocked on a life that ended in my murder and didn't get too far in one where I was not the best person (but hey, I was just a teenager in the part I regressed to!) but the others were nice and felt good. Mild lives of working hard and doing my part and being happy with it. Can't beat that, huh!

By the way, I went to a hypnotist who was logging hours for her final certification, so it was a lot less expensive. She had the training, just needed the time put in. If you can find an arrangement like that, I'd recommend it.

Where did you go to get this done? How do you find someone qualified? I'm reading a book about it right now.

I believe that you can remember past lives, but I don't know if I would have someone hypnotize me. Then again, I don't trust easily so it would be very hard for someone to hypnotize me. I'm kind of wary of actively seeking out my past lives too; people seem to be too easily influenced. Remember, everyone was Julius Caesar or Cleopatra or Jeanne Darc. ;)

i've never experienced that either but i would luv to ... i just dont know if i'll trust anybody enuf to "let go" ... maybe if i learn more about it.
i know i've had my own moments of regression .. its the only explanation for those odd thoughts i get .. which feel more like memories.

I found out about it through a holistic health center in town - you could try looking for hypnosis in the phone book, and if there's a school nearby call and see if they offer discounts for hypnosis done by people who have gone through all the training and are working on getting the hours of practice that's required. Good luck!

I have never claimed to be any of those. I have been a soldier. Just a male soldier with wife and three kids. I have been a medieval lady. I have been a peasent, but never anyone of importance.
