Spells to ensure a healthy baby?

Does anyone know of any spells to help along a pregnancy? I just found out recently that my sister is pregnant, and I thought it would be nice to perhaps bless her, or the child, or do some something (ie cast a spell, do a ritual) to help ensure that she has a healthy child. Any ideas?

Oh yeah, I was just wondering if anyone knew what type of Initiation I would have to go through, being as I am pretty much a solitary practitioner? Specifics would be great! Thanx!

For protecting the baby you might draw symbols of protection on the mothers tummy, like a pentagram or a rune, and that would protect the mother too. :)

You could also make little bags, or amuletts filled with herbs and symbols for protection and place it in your sisters house, I guess it would be best to place it near her, like over her bed perhaps? Or you can make an amulett for her to hang around her neck. :)

Herbs you could use are just about any herbs for love and protection and perhaps also health, for example:
Akacia (love and protection)
Basil (love)
Mandrake (love and protection and health)
Seaweed (called blåstång in swedish, that one with sort of bubbles on it... protects against accidents and diseases)
Ceder (protection)
Dragons blood (protection)
Hibiscus (love)
Iris Florentina (love and protection)
Clover (protection, love, success)
Caraway (protection, health)
Lavender (protection, especially for protecting children, also stands for love, peace, happiness etc, I'd definitly use that lavender for your sister :) )
Etc.
Note that many of these herbs are poisonous, and some are not at all recommended to pregnant women, therefor I would definitly make any brews or teas etc for your sister, but make her an amulett instead.

Crystals you can use are for example:
Agat (protection)
Amethyst (protection)
Citrin (for the family)

As for your own initiation, as a solitary witch you make your own initiations, sit down and think about what it should include to make it meaningful for you, and then search the net, and read books about it and form your own initiation, don't forget to take moon correspondences etc into count when deciding on a date for your initiation.

I would recomend using lavender when your sister is ready for labour. In some instances, lavender can induce uterine contractions so you may not want to use it now. Lavender is wonderful to use during labour, though. Very calming and relaxing...just what you need then.

Oh I should have added, that many of these herbs are poisonous as I wrote and therefor should not be taken internally, but also many of these herbs are not suited for oils (bath oils, massage oils (actually massage isn't good at all in early pregnancy) etc) for pregnant women either, and also there are herbs that you shouldn't use for incense neither.
But you can use all herbs as amuletts, in little bags or whatever you prefer. That is safe. And I do believe there is some "pregnant women avoid list" somewhere on MW.... :)

Princess...another really great Chrystal to include in your amulet (though technichally...not exactly a chrystal, but a stone)..would be a Geode. Just think of the appearance of a geode...it contains "hidden treasure" inside :) So try to get a small geode, and have your sister carry it in an amulet bag. Also..with any work for protecting or nurturing a pregnancy, I reccomend the use of "Seeds"...If you can get your hands on a nice wooden box, you can paint it with protection symbols, and maybe put some faux velvet lining/padding in it, and place a seed inside it. The protection of the "Seed".....very powerful symbolism. Really, another great idea, would be to PLANT a seed, in a little pot, inside your home, or have your sister do so. And nurture it to maturity:) It would take a great deal of dedication....but I think it would be powerful sympathetic magick:) Blessings on your sisters pregnancy!

wow what a wonderful idea,:) I especially like the planting a seed idea. I have used that type of magick before, and it is really wonderful and of course in this case it would get a great symbolic meaning with the seed growing and all... :)
