I did a reading tonight which I need help on. I did the short version of the Celtic Cross and my question was: Where's my relationship with __ headed? it's with this guy I like. So here goes the positions and their meanings:
1. Experience to date: 9 of pentacles
2. Where we are: King of Pentacles
3. Near Future: 5 of Cups
4. Environment of Future: The Emperor
5. Best to hope for: 6 of Pentacles
6. Outcome: 2 of Cups
Okay, so I've read that the Major Arcana cards always have a big influence in the whole reading..so I wonder what's so important about The Emperor in this reading.
Hopefully someone can interpret my whole reading, 'cause I'm still learning Tarot so, thanks in advance!

it depends on what tarot deck you use
in some decks 2 cups is meaning a hurting in emotoins
in other decks its two lovers in harmony

Question was: Where's my relationship with __ headed? it's with this guy I like. 1. Experience to date: 9 of pentacles
This card would indicate to me that you've been happy up until now on you're own. You've been enjoying things and not too worried about "finding someone".
2. Where we are: King of Pentacles
The King of Pentacles usually means someone who is stable and secure. Not someone you have to worry about with money, this person can take care of themself. I usually see this person as an excellent source of advice, they are very grounded.
3. Near Future: 5 of Cups
Things may not go exactly as you'd like them too, but that doesn't mean they aren't going in the right direction. Make sure you look closely at the situation, there may be more there than you think at first.
4. Environment of Future: The Emperor
The Emperor is very much like the King of Pents to me. A strong person who is very secure. He's the "tough love" part of parenting. He does what he thinks is best and sometimes that may seem harsh. I also associate him with the military. Is your love interested associated with the military at all? Or is he perhaps looking at some kind of authority position? He might be moving (that's just a feeling, really).
5. Best to hope for: 6 of Pentacles
This to me, in a relationship reading, is about "give and take". The best to hope for in this instance is that you are both equals and willing to give and take as the situation/relationship requires. Hope for fairness.
6. Outcome: 2 of Cups
At the very least, the 2 of Cups can indicate a good working or platonic relationship. There is a sense of cooperation and harmony in this card. It can indicate a romantic relationship that is very easy and not full of drama, because the 2 parties are on the same wavelength.
So, as your outcome I’d say that you should just sort of go where this leads you and not overanalyze it to much. It may seem to change direction at times, but just roll with it. At the worst, you’ll end up with a good friend. J
Okay, so I've read that the Major Arcana cards always have a big influence in the whole reading..so I wonder what's so important about The Emperor in this reading.I really only stress the importance of majors if there are several in one reading or if the majority of the cards are majors. When there are lots of majors, I tend to think that the question is sort of out of the querent’s hands. Too many overwhelming outside influences.
One major out of 6 cards is about average, I'd say.
Since there is only one Major card, I’d say that there isn’t a lot of drama surrounding this question. It seems like a pretty light situation, not one you should stress over too much. If there were no majors at all, I might lean more towards a friendship than relationship because of the lack of impact of the majors.

Which deck(s) interpret the 2 of Cups as hurtful? Just curious, I've never seen that. :)
almost every traditional deck before the more modern ones (rider whaite and its follow ups) and crowley (and their follow ups)
trad decks like:
like: floerentine
de marseille
classic
de wirth
they also have a differing numerological value on the major arcane
classic 'modern'
justice 8 justice 11
strength 11 strength 8

I used the Unicorn Tarot, which is based on the Rider Waite.
Thanks Lisa.... you're right about the Emperor and King of Pentacles when you said that he doesn't have to worry about money, but I was confused 'cause I didn't know if I should read those cards as a 'person' or as an 'energy'. But I still think the Emperor shouldn't be read as the person..it's something that's going on in the environment of the future...and 2 of Cups might mean that we'll get together in the near future, which is true 'cause right now we're apart. 2 of Cups it's like the easiest to figure out.
Thanks.

Thanks! I have not studied the Marseilles deck (although I really should). I know that the meanings of the minors are based more on numerological characteristics in decks like that, but I prefer cards with illustrated pips, at least for now.
I did realize that the 8 & 11 cards were changed by Waite when he created his deck. Some modern decks will put them back in original order, I can't think of which ones right at the moment. It is time, perhaps, to examine your individual religious beliefs..The Emperor is also about our ways of knowing God/Godess. And your family ties..5 Cups.. in relation-ship to both family religious convictions and flexibilities & strengths... :chatty: And the imperative of how he believes money must be handled..6 Pentacles.. :fpraiseyo What is Far now.. is Near later.......
