Hiya
I'm interested in knowing if any of you have had this experience or have heard of it and know what it is.
For as long as I can remember I've had this happen to me during warm, cozy moments with people I'm close to. I might be giving my daughter a hug or laughing with a friend or even cuddling my cats when my eyes close and a burst of white light hits my eyelids. It seems to come from within but I'm not sure. If I open my eyes when it's happening it stops. Sometimes a very low humming sound comes with it.
I've been searching my books and the net for information about this but haven't found anything. Any suggestions are appreciated.

im not sure. usually a white light represents positive energy, hums can often be soothing. maybe its just how you feel, or you could be picking up on their enery transfuring to yours , but thats all i can really think of

I've experienced somethine like that, although it's doesn't happed all the time... I would close my eyes, day or night, and I would get a red flash and kind of white-sih blue flash. But I know that only happens when I am frustrated or upset. More so noticable at night, no pain, just the flash and an increased intense emotion. I've never had any luck with info, I had also went to an optomotrist about it, they didn't have a clue.
Blessings,

YAY...I'm not alone! _happydanc
I also tried an optomotrist but she said my eyes were fine.
My yoga instructor thought it could have something to do with shedding bad karma. That could explain the feeling of love and joy that comes with it but I'm not altogether convinced.
Please share if you learn something new about this...I'm so thrilled that someone knows what I'm talking about :D

Not sure.
I'll let someone else speak about the paranormal (I'm not qualified to better address this) but I'd have to question physical causes too. It doesn't mean I would rule the paranormal out, but I think it prudent to rule out the physical (as in see your doctor/specialist and hopefully yours is a good one).
For example, could the acts of hugging, laughing, or bending down to pet cat cause this? See "bursts of light" mentioned at http://www.vis-ability.com/floatersandflashers/floatersandflashers.html
The hum in your ears could be increased heart rate causing your blood to course more strongly, interpreted/heard by your ears as humming.
Almost sounds like what happend to me (a few silent migraines), but then again it doesn't because the triggers would be different--According to migraine specialists emotional events are not migraine triggers. "Migraine triggers DO NOT include lifestyle, stress, anxiety, worry, emotion, excitement, depression, and caffeine." Source: http://www.migraines.org/about_media/ijim.htm
