In general, or like Halloween Carols ("Deck the halls...")?
I'd say, "Thriller" by Michael Jackson
"Monster Mash," by whoever sings that
um..... I'm tapped. :-/

Purple People Eater ????
Oh...Alanis Morrisettes song...'Uninvited" has a spooky feel to it. I'd include that.
Loreena Mckennit has a couple of songs which are great for Halloween...yes..they are a little sappy...but..good none the less. One is even called Samhain Eve, I believe.
The old version of "I put a spell on you" (don't know the artist, but if you run a search on any music download thing, you should be able to find it.)...
Black Magick Woman (santana)
Santeria (Sublime)
Voodoo Child (hendrix)
Witchy Woman (Eagles)
Gypsy (or SOOOO many others) by Stevie Nicks.
I like the Theme Song from the Movie The "Craft".
Tons of songs from Marilyn Manson might work.
Definately gotta play Godsmack's "Voodoo".
Wherewolf of London (Warren Zevon)
Anything for love (Meatloaf..comeon..ya just gotta play meatloaf!)
Anything from the "little shop of horrors" soundtrack, or the Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack,
Blue Oyster Cult (don't fear the Reaper)
Strange Brew (Cream).
That old eighties hit, where Michael Jackson sings back up.."Somebody's Watching Me.".
The Cure "Lullabye".
Joan Osborne (St. Theresa)...just really sounds "bewitching".
Something by Enigma might be cool.
Check into Dead Can Dance for that "Gothic" feel...
Zombie (cranberries)
Santana (Supernatural)
Smashing Pumpkins "rat in a cage".
Anyway..some of these just have a "Spooky" feel to them,
Some of them just have "halloweenish words " in them....I hope it helps!
Oh..wait..let me not forget. Check out some Clannad, there are some spooky (spooky as in ethereal) songs on there....

oh..and I think that The Men In Black soundtrack (will smith) might help, along with his old stuff with DJ Jazzy Jeff (Nightmare on MY street). Oh...here's one more..the old "Little Red Riding hood" song. Devil in a Blue dress might help, too. Devil went down to Georgia??? Hmmmm...INXS devil inside??? I keep thinking of more every time I think i've run out! LOL. You might also want to tap into some Disney songs, for pure fun. Like the Sea Witche's song from the Little mermaid, or one of the "Villains" songs from "Hercules" or something...just a thought. Oh..and CCR's Bad Moon Rising!!!!! How about U2's Mysterious Ways???
The old song "Witchdoctor", might help, and "Poison Ivy" and "Love Potion #9".

Hee hee thanks Danustouch. I was long overdue to download the villain theme "Be Prepared" from the Lion King soundtrack :) All your suggestions were great, I cut and pasted them onto my wish list.
I'm looking for general halloween music, but also general gothic themes, after all it is a party, and people aren't going to want to dance to the usual synth-pop new wave crap I usually spin.
Any good gothic must-haves I should get people?

hmmmmm..not being Goth myself...i couldn't really advise you. But Dead Can Dance is a GREAT place to start, go with some loreena Mckennit, too, and some Clannad. My old roommate was a HUGE goth fan..but I can't remember any of the people he listened to. Oh..don't forget the enigma though. Good stuff. Oh..if you DO check into Clannad, try to get your hands on their album "past present". Got some good stuff on there. Also, are we talking Heavy Goth type metal? or do you want Goth ethereal??

Rasputina has some really creepy songs... I like "Transylvanian Concubine" and "The Donner Party," which isn't really a song, but more spoken. Still creepy though. Weird.

Persephone is one artist or band I ran across.
I also ran across a song called Cernunnos..really creepy sounding...don't know who did it. You might want to try Succubus though.
