As I've continued through "By Oak, Ash, and Thorn," I've been studying and using the various shamanic techniques described...and it's very interesting.

Just last night, I attempted to project into matter. First, I projected into a block of gold. It was amazing; walking through one of the veins was like walking through a long, gold-paved walkway, where everything was shiny and light reflected all around...the gold had a familiar hum, which would reverbrate when the gold was struck hard enough.

Then, there was the orange. This one was particularly enjoyable. The rind was very odd-looking, like peering at a giant basketball. Then, the inside of the orange was interesting...the strong smell of citrus, the taste of the orange nectar (which was too sweet to be that of any ordinary orange)...I really enjoyed this one.

Third was the fir tree. This one was very lovely. The smell of the sap, the sticky feel of it, and warm, soft wood. You could feel it's oneness with the Earth...as if a doorway to a whole new world (which, indeed, that is the focal point of this lesson).

The final one was a chosen animal, and I chose the tiger. It was a very amazing experience. Stalking the savannah, running for the hunt...very invigorating.

So, anybody interesting in trying this, simply follow this technique:

Get yourself into a subtle, comfortable stage of consciousness. Envision yourself in an area bathed in warm sunlight, before a large mass of a chosen metal (I chose gold, but copper, titanium, or others could be used...you could also use rocks and/or gems). Feel it's rythym, notice the surroundings. Then, move out of that and project yourself into a fruit of some type. Notice the feeling of the pulp, the taste, the sticky sensations. Next, move yourself into a tree. Feel the tree, and it's particular rythym and vibration. Feel it's oneness with the Earth and all things connected to it. Next, move yourself into a large, mossy rock (I didn't get to do this one, thanks to the television outside of my room. *grrr*). Feel the dampness, smell the moss, notice everything about it. Finally, move yourself into a particular animal. Become the animal. Move with it, move as it. Feel all of its sensations, it's freedoms, and it's hinderances. Then, when you are comfortable, bring yourself back.

I really enjoy this one...you might as well.
