Okay, I know I am probably being paranoid, especially as I am quite new to the craft, but I swear someone or something is trying to do my head in. Since starting to practice in withcraft several srange things have begun to happen around the house. Example, the phone will ring and stop just as I go to pick it up, I don't mean once here but for about half an hour at a time. It really freaked me out today. Things like that don't usually bother me, but today it did. Also yesterday after doing a spell the light outside my house broke. Coincidence you say, it was only fixed the day before.
Does anyone else have similar experiences or am I going crazy. Any advise welcome.

Hey there crystalmoon
wow. . . that sounds creepy!! Do you have any BAD feelings, other than being freaked out? Are you inexplicably worried or scared, or do you have any feelings like you're angry at someone, but you dont know who? Perhaps there's an entity playing a trick on you. It could also be your own mind, I've had that happen to me before. When I first got into magick, I would actually attack myself without even realizing that it was ME doing it, and since I was the problem half the time, I didn't know what to fight to get it to stop! I also had experiences with rather unfriendly entities at the same time, so I was confused beyond belief!
but if there's any possibility that it might be your own anxiety getting at you (because you may have very strong abilities and be doing this, without even knowing it. It can easily happen, like I said), you might want to try just ignoring it. That's what I did. It's hard at first, like trying not to scratch an itch. But it does work if you *are* the problem. ^_^
If it's something else, there are a number of things you can do. But if you're utterly positive it couldn't be you (and it's hard to be positive about ANYTHING concerning things like this), you may wish to find out just what it is. Do you know of any spirits or entities that hang out around your house? do you ever get chills or feel like you're being watched or things like that? It's a possibility there's a grumpy or mischevious creature hanging out there. Some might even say Loki is playing a trick on you! ^_^
Something you may wish to consider: I have found, that if you can convince yourself that the things that are happening aren't real, it ruins the fun for whatever's causing it. I have solved problems like that simply by ignoring it. . . in some cases it's like a child throwing a tantrum: eventually they get up, realizing they're not getting attention, and go do something else.
I hope this is of some help! Good luck! ^_^

I'd be interested in hearing more about it - some of these things are common enough occurances without magick being involved. What are the phone lines like in your area? We get our phone ringing often only to have a dead line on the end when you pick up the phone - we have old phone lines that pick up the slightest amount of electricity and ring the phone - sometimes it will only ring once or twice then stop.
I wouldn't recommend ignoring these things - as there COULD possibly be a spirit - and ignoring something like that doesn't necessarily make it go away. I would recommend looking at the different people you've been associating with - finding out if any of them have any problems with you. Looking around you house like was suggested and seeing if there are any *feelings* you get about specific rooms etc - like a spirit that might be in the house.
Most of all, if you are having a problem, do a cleansing and protection on your house, and also on a piece of jewelry or something you wear a lot to protect you out of the house. It's hard to be specific with such little information, but these would be my thoughts, along with not taking everything as deathly serious - things break - even two-day old lights. It could just be the wiring of your house and a power surge that effected the light - we also have that problem here too, so I know what it's like to go through a dozens globes a month!
If you have any more specific information, feel free to post and get members' opinions. :)

Light bulbs don't seem to last too long around my house. My experience is the more I work with energy, the shorter the lifespan of my lightbulbs. I can't were wristwatches for too long either before the battery is dead. I suffer severely in the winter from Static Electricity....no matter how much I ground myself!....so I'm always getting shocks and my hear does the fly-away thing! UGH!! Talk about frustrating!
My phone use to do that alot to. I chalked it up to the phone company. Once I received a call in the middle of the night by a very P. O'ed woman....telling me to quit calling her. (my name and number came up on her caller ID) ...I was in bed when all this was happening....sure my phone was in my room, but she woke me up. Then other times, I think it's the autodialer from telemarketers. The phone would ring once.....and quit. This happened more so when I had debt collector's calling. But since my bills are all up to date....it hasn't happened once. So....like I said, I chalk it up to the Telephone company.

I don't think it's the phone wiring as I have only been here for two years, also this only happens when I have been active.
The light was not a household bulb but an outside street light.
We do have a resident ghost, we call her Mrs Do dah, my husband has seen her, she usually hides things when I am getting ready to leave when I know damn well where I put them, she also turns plugs off that are not easily accessable (behind cupboards, thats why I leave them switched on). Also I get the shivers if I stand by her old doorway (it has been blocked up).
I sometimes hear what sounds like my youngest one (she is 5) running across the landing at night, when I go to check everyone is asleep.
My dog will growl when there is nothing there, the other night she stayed by my front door all night, (she usually sleeps in her basket) only getting up to follow me around the house and going back to the door when I sat down.
Several times I thought I saw someone passing my front door (it is glass and you have to come off the street to pass it you can't just walk past my door) only to find no-one there.
Any advice or similar stories welcome

o.o whoah ok I would definately not ignore that!! Have you tried contacting the spirits? Just trying to sense them?
on the topic of ghosts: my house was built on what used to be a village. . . I have contact with a little boy and his mother. The sister was taken away by whom I believe to be spaniards, and she was sick, and they never saw her again. I think the mother and son were killed. But they never did anything disturbing, they just showed themselves every once in a while. The son blames the mother for the daughter's death.
But I'm not sure how to react to your experiences. I don't know enough about that kind of situation. But good luck!!!

Stuff like that always happens to me. Candles fly out of their fused holders, doors open on their own, my chimes chime with no wind...stuff like that. But I know who is doing it so...... . I think you should find out why these spirits are doing this they may also be trying to tell you something important!

I dunno, maybe I'm just wierd, but for me.. I'm aware of spirits around us everywhere all the time. Sometimes they make themselves known if you pay attention and sometimes they don't. Similarly, faeries are all over the place. Both will sometimes muck about with lights or phones or steal things from you or move stuff, etc. etc. etc. and it's no big deal. I don't know why people wonder if they're crazy when they notice this stuff; for myself and my friends it is an everyday occurence.
You don't have to continue trying to prove it wasn't the phone company or faulty wiring or burst bulbs, crystalmoon, just come to terms with the fact that if it IS ghosts or faeries that is perfectly normal and there's nothing to worry about. Now if they actually start hurting you or destroying your home, yes that's something to worry about, but frankly if they're just playing with the phone and lights what's the matter? If they steal stuff or move it you'll find it later.
Personally I light a big white candle for the spirits, fae folk, and devas of my home to thank them for protecting me and bringing joy and mystery into my home. You might consider doing that too.

I would definately try to acknowlege it if is a ghost, my own house has a friendly priest who died in it ( my house used to be a church) who became very active and annoying when my husband and I moved in and nstarted practicing. We contacted it and it really didn't mean us any actual harm. This being the case we have simple let it be and learned to live with such things, I think this was the key - living along side it rather than ignoring it.
Good luck and blessed be.
