I'm so proud of myself!!! The bathroom is clean, the hallway, the living room (!!!!!!), the kitchen is almost done, and my roomie did the dining room. The place looks good!!!!!! Spring break is good for me or something!!!!

And now I'll actually be able to concentrate on something... anything! lol

That is thenesting instinct of spring, or at least that is what I call it. It happens to me and my hubby every spring. We also go through something like that in the fall.

Yeah, its not the rest of the house I have to worry about though, only my bedroom. I look at it, get disgusted and close the door. Bad move I know, but everytime I clean it up, Rhyce drops by and the place is a mess again.

It took almost being kicked out cause my apartment failed inspection by the state inspectors to get me to finally clean up my apartment it feels so good now that its empty I can actually feel all the energy pooling up in my apartment again. I miss my guides I think they got fed up with the messy apt too LOL.

Are you one of those people who has stacks of stuff all around the place and has a narrow space to maneuver around? I'm just trying to understand just how bad it has to be that inspectors are going to throw you out????

At my apartment's worse, there was garbage all over the ground. My bedroom was one big storage room after a while with boxes and other stuff strew haphazardly. I had spiderwebs and spiders living happily with the termites that popped up once in a while. My bathroom was so scary looking that gas stations were cleaner.

My Dining room was full of junkmail all over the dining room table and floor, mixed with shopping bags and empty TV dinner boxes.

My kitchen had a few bags of garbage but mostly recycle bottles and cans. The sink was full of year old dirty dishes.

Basically it was a pig sty. It now looks very clean, though still a few boxes stacked in the bedroom. I had to rent a storage room to get alot of stuff out that were basically just books and cables.

Your celebration is premature. You will never have victory. But you know that, don't you? Entropy beckons. Not from any particular direction, because it is everywhere, built into the very fabric of the universe.

How long will your house stay clean? A week? Two? A day? An hour? The minute you stop pushing back the chaos, it immediately starts piling up again. Cleaning is not an event. It is a process, and it is ongoing just like the struggles of life. No sooner is your bathroom pristine than it starts the swift and steady slide back down into decay and filth. Impose order all you want, but know that your efforts are futile. Push harder against it, and you give it more strength to come falling back down upon you. It's all going to break down anyway, so you may as well spend your energy figuring out how to make the most of the trip. Instead of trying to put the damn fire out, instead bathe in its warmth. Don't build sea walls, learn how to ride the waves.

That would be an accurate discription of how my house looked last friday (when I started cleaning). But add 12 cats.... and the smell.... yea....

I'm so proud of myself.... :D

OK! That's me all over! I clean the house regularly, but my bedroom - I think what the hell - no one else sees it. Perhaps if I was seeing someone it might motivate me to clean in there!

I sympathize with you folks that had the clutter-challanged homes. I had a military friend who had an inspection at her apartment complex and had only the weekend to get it right. Her hubby was with a military band and was going to be out of town for the weekend. My hubby and I went to help her clear out all the clutter. It took us 2 days of steady sorting and trashing. I learned my leason about being a packrat, having to move with the Army. If I haven't used something within a year, I usually get rid of it. When I find things that I go "wow, I didn't know I had that" I usually get rid of it because it I hadn't missed it, I probably don't need it. However, being bipolar, I have those weeks where I can't face cleaning and things pile up which then overwhelms me. Hubby and I have to fight the battle to get it all back under control. My biggest problems are books and magazines. They're piled up everywhere! I just can't part with the books...lol.

I feel your pain. :) I have 9 cats. Litterbox duty is the worse. Must get a Litter Maid. My cats like to make as big a mess as my 4 year old. I'm always trying to get baskets and pretty containers to stuff the clutter in. Of course then the cats turn stuff over. If I didn't love my felines so much..............

I used to have cats, but my roomie has a dog now so . . . But I find it's my hamster who makes a mess! Seriously, she throws her wood shavings (bedding) out of her cage and it gets everywhere. I'm forever vacuuming her corner of the living room.
