I'm curious what other gardeners here do in the winter time? Me, I should start recieving seed catalogues in the mail soon. I will spend the next 3-4 months drooling over all the neat new stuff I can plant, if I had the space. I have some plants that need TLC over the winter months, but it's not as hectic as it is in the spring time or summer. I've almost finished harvesting my herbs for drying.

Plant window herb boxes and force bulbs for around the house. I saw a great idea for window boxes inside. They used decorative shelf brackets to hold the box and attatched it to the sill inside they also painted it to match the sill. For ease of watering and changing they kept the plants in small pots. It looked great.

Ohhh that's sounds like a great idea!! Funny because I have been wandering around my house all day trying to figure out what to do for the winter! I just moved so there is much to do. I think I will make an extensive plan for my garden. Do some research on shady plants and such. I don't get much sun in my yard...too many beautiful trees. At least I know I'll be busy raking
leaves for the next few weeks or months!!

I do pretty much as you... look at seed/plant catalogs over the winter and plan for the spring. the ground here gets frozen rock hard, so there isn't anything much to do outside. my home is too dark to grow anything inside. i force bulbs for my office at work (it's sunny there).

You're lucky! I have NO natural light in my office. Its completely surrounded by thick concrete. I have one lonely ivy growing here & I don't think it's very happy. :(
