Personally? I tossed all my books.....and went with my gut! ....AND used the little clues on the cards. What the figures were doing....how they felt .....that is insight to the reading/querant/situation. Try it! It works!

My girlfriend had the same problem of feeling overwhelmed. ...so, I sat her down with her deck.....and I started pulling cards....and asked her to describe the card outloud....what the figure was doing...possibly why...how they are feeling...what the different objects in the pictures represent...etc. She feels so much more comfortable now! Remember, the interpretations that count are YOURS....not what a book tells you they are.

I would also suggest learning three traditional keywords per card (upright only) and use that for a jumping off place for you insight and imagination. :D

Learning the tarot can be overwhelming. There are alot of cards, and the cards have more than one meaning. What I did was this;
I worked on part of the deck at a time. The first 10 major arcana cards, the rest of the major arcana, and each suit.

I did a little at a time. Try to see the pattern. The suits have a theme, and so do all the aces, twos ect. That helps. I found working with different books helped, especially at the begining. After a while, then I put the books aside.

Also, do a few readings each day. They don't have to be anything important, but that way you are not just focusing on each card. Your getting exposer to them all, with more work on the group your working on then.

Like if you are working on the 1st ten major arcana, take them out. Look at each card. Read how different sources interpret that card, in relation to what you see. Sometimes we start to see a card as just one meaning, and by opening ourselves to others ideas, we can learn something new about that card. Do this with each card in your group. And do it until you feel comfortable with each card. Then move on tho the next set.

As you do the full deck readings, you'll learn new things about the cards your focusing on daily. It really helped me.

Just sit with your deck and go through each card.. making up a story, thinking about anything and everything that comes into your head and see what happens ;) Your deck is your interpretations no one can tell you right or wrong :) Just go with your gut feelings!

Please let us know how you get on and what happens :sunny:
