*grins* Since I don't feel qualified to actually expound on the philosophy of yoga, I figured I'd talk instead about what it means to me.

I have found (and this is common) the more I do yoga, the less likely I am to eat crap that's bad for me. I've gained from yoga a perspective on the importance of my body and the interconnectedness of all things.

Given that I am a Zen Buddhist, meditation is supposed to be a big part of my practice. That's not quite the case yet, as I do better with walking meditation than actual sitting meditation (called zazen), but I'm working on it.

For those of you who feel like it's worth doing, I highly recommend sitting meditation. However, for those of you who spoke of having concentration problems, focus problems, or just a general feeling of not being grounded - I'd say stay away from it! It's probably only going to frustrate you until you can get to a point where you're more able to concentrate (or even just sit still).

In that case I highly recommend you practice the balancing poses that we're going to start doing next week. These poses should give you the ability to clear your mind a little and yet not get distracted because they require concentration to accomplish. *grins* You'll figure out pretty quickly that balancing poses are super hard if you're not paying attention to what your body is doing.

Yoga has become a good gauge for me of my mental health. I can tell when I'm distracted or stress, not only because my practice suffers, but because I can feel more distinctly the pains in my body that stress causes.

So, over the last few weeks, what would you say has been a recognizable change from your yoga practice?
