Losing the touch?

When I first began working with Reiki 5 years ago, I could tell it was working. I could feel the heat in my hands, I could see auras and I was very much an empath. This was after I took an extensive 8 hour course and got my first attunement.

Since then I seemed to have lost all that. I can't see auras anymore no matter how hard I try. When I try to heal, I don't feel a thing. I don't have visions anymore either. I recently went to get my Reiki II attunement last year, thinking that will help me but I have not noticed any difference. I know that they say once you are attuned, you don't loose it... but I am starting to think that's just what I did. :whatgives

Has this happened to anyone els? Does anyone know how I can fix it?

How long ago did you "lose it" and what, if any, major changes in your life have happened in between?

I don't think these types of gifts we're given are "lost" however, I do feel they can go dormant when necessary.

I have to concur with that. :) Dormany happens. Perhaps you should try building a stronger intent and will of the mind.

Oh gosh.. I have had lots of major changes. I ended up having to move out of state due to a stalker ex, after that, due to the new location, being unable to find a jod and having to put my son up for adoption... my life just seemed to go on a downward spiral. But now everything is great... well a lot better. I am married to a wonderful man, we have a new daughter and I am becomming involved in the local pagan community. It's been about three years since I 'lost' it and I am having a hard time finding someone who can help me out. Everywhere I go, they seem to be doing reiki just for the money and to be quite frank.. I don't seem to be getting anything out of it at all.

My guess is that you shut yourself down. Going through Hell and being an empath is, as you probably found out, very hard to handle. You go into survival mood and everything shuts down. This, basically, happened to me. I was seeing aura's, spirits, and such. I went through a period of absolute hell and I shut it down (unconsciously) to be able to cope. Now it's starting to come back, but I'm having to work really hard with it. Exercises each night and such. And it's no where close to what it was...

Thanks. I am just glad I'm not the only one. I just wish I had more control over the whole shutting down thing. I don't feel 'whole' without the ability to do these things. Not to mention that when I join in group circles, I end up completely exhausted. I used to feel revitalized after a circle casting.

Maybe due to the fact you've had so much trauma in that period of your life, you need to do some closure exercises and let go? I'm not sure if that would help or not OR if you've tried that. Relaxing would definitely help though! I agree.

I have had similar things happen, I am able to feel my hands warm up but that is it. How long does it take in order to see things? :woah:
