What is your prefered clothing, if any, when you perform rituals or magick? Why?

whatever I'm wearing at the time. I guess if I have to choose---yoga pants. Comfy, not too flowy....

I have these robes that were custom made for me by a fellow witch from a circle that sold them. They are a dark blue velvet color. I'll have to take a pic of it. I made my belt from a long piece of thick lace or something I crocheted into a belt.

Something not drapy and flammable - far too easy to knock over candes or catch something on fire.
(hint: polyester + fire = bad)

Depending on need, all of the above.

For inconspicuous public things... like needing to play with a river in a park... street clothes.

For ritual in a more private venue, with others or sometimes alone, my robes. Simple black cotton natural fiber robes. Not pretty, but neutral... ego damping. As well as a common bond as it is something all of the initiates of my grove are wearing... nice for helping construct the group mind for the ritual. And a tool that can be very usful to get me into the right mood/mindset at other times... putting them on resonates "ritual time" all the way down to my back-brain ;).

Sometimes when alone (so far no reasons to with others), skyclad. Sometimes nudity and its symbolism is more appropriate to what I'm doing.

I'm with Ember---it depends on the situation...which is why I voted Other.

If I am leading, I wear ritual clothes, otherwise, I may wear street clothes. Or I may dress up as the mood suits me.

I wear nothing at all. I do this because 99% of the time I am clothed and when I go "skyclad" in ritual it helps put me in a magickal sort of state of mind. Whatever feels comfortable is generally the rule. There's really no hard and fast rules for what you should wear in ritual. It's really a matter of what feels comfortable and what gives you that magickal feeling. For some its cloaks, for some its nothing, and for some its jeans and a t-shirt.

I would like something other than my pjs, which is what I usually wear. I would like a cloak but they are quite expensive and perhaps some ritual clothing but at this point, that ain't happening. I be poor.

I don't have any rituals clothes now. I'd wear everyday clothes for public rituals. For my own private rituals, I'd probably go skyclad if I knew I wouldn't be disturbed.

I have got robes and a couple of cloaks for ritual, but i don't often wear them, mainly cos the last time i did (a couple of years ago) i managed to burn a small hole in one by ignoring candles. Hence i either wear whatever I happen to be in, or nothing at all. I'm quite comfortable being naked, so whatever goes. Robes are too much of a fire hazard for me. :D

I wear whatever I happen to be wearing. I just don't see a point in getting all dressed up (or undressed for that matter) for your rituals.

Usually something comfortable.

Here is my own situation summed up in a hazel-nut-shell. I do own a beautiful flowing silk chiffon gown that I acquired from "Gypsy Moon" via a boyfriend, but since I don't want to ruin it further (I put some BAD spots & holes into the bottom with bleach), I don't dare wear its flowing, hanging bishop sleeves around candles, although I have worn it on rare occasion.

Usually robes of some kind. Sometimes I'll wear the robe my mom made me, sometimes I'll wear a cloak (either another mom-creation or my own). Sometimes I'll wear street-clothes if there's no planning involved (though even if I can't bring my robe for whatever reason, I still like to dress up nicely). And sometimes I just go skyclad.

I see it as important to wear a robe or do something to set the ritual apart from ordinary, but not entirely necessary. Just another useful tool in setting the right state of mind.

PS: I've seen a lot of cloaks that are very over-priced. If you know someone who sews, you can likely barter for a robe or cloak at a very reasonable rate. Or if you sew yourself, it's far nicer to make something with care yourself than to buy the cheapest one you can find. YMMV.

I wear whatever I have on for most rituals, comfortable so I can move freely, get on the ground or whatever. i sometimes put on a cloak for high rituals celebrating holidays, or for teaching. I usually take off my watch to open myself up to timelessness, and I put on different pendants depending on the type of energy I want to be attracting and giving off. I feel like some of my pendants are high energy, some low energy, and some love and warmth.

I too wear whatever I'm wearing at the moment. But if it's something really important, I'd wear my long velvet dress. :) But if it's a simple energy raising for something small, it's whatever I'm wearing at the moment.

Mostly every day clothes. I find them comfortable and easy to wear.

Well, whenever I do a ritual or spell, I tend to wear my everyday clothes. However, I normally change into something like cloth pants (sweats maybe) and an old t-shirt. Certain times, like moon rituals, I tend to go skyclad in my room and bask in the rays of light. It all depends on how I feel, my intent, and my conditions.
