People these days seem to only want material weath. I use to want it too, as a kid. But, as I grew I changed. I seem to change as I became a pagan. I no long see the point of working your way to the top of the latter as they say. People go out and buy fancy cars and clothers. But, I don't see why people should spend all that extra money when a normal car still gets me from point A to B the same as a fancy car. My parents have lots of money fancy cars and house and stuff. I got my little condo, and simple stuff. I can pay the bills with my job, so I don't think about get a new one to make more money. I could change jobs and make money. My parents think I should, but I don't know what I do with the extra money. So, I was woundering if anyone else out there was turning away from being materialistic or i'm I the only one, that does not seem to get it anymore.

As a person whom cannot work and barely has enough money for the essentials (My b/f bought me this computer, pays 1/2 of my internet bill, etc....) I would love to have more money to just buy STUFF. I would love to go to work and make money so that I could afford to get my tv turned on so that my child could watch Blue's Clues
But that's just me:(

I can understand that. Luckly I can pay for stuff like that. I just don't understand going after the luxary stuff. You know why a $500,000 house when a $100,000 meats your need. Or my $15,000 honda vs. someone's $40,000 sports car. I think we should all have money to have a house, car, cable etc. I just don't see why we have to have the luxary stuff. I help support people who have less then I do. I give a lot of my money away. They there are people like my parents who have it all, but give very little away.

I agree with that..................
There are ways to get the things you want without having to pay double for them.

All I'm asking for is enough to provide for my 7 month old son, Dylan and pay the bills. After having moved 4 times in 5 years I've gotten rid of alot of things merely because I discovered certain things had no use to me and I got tired of packing. Right now, however, I'm fixing to get an eviction notice (on Friday my rental agency is filing the paperwork), my car is illegal because I can't afford to fix the exhaust system so it can pass inspection and get tags. The job my husband currently has can't pay everything. We have back rent from when he got laid off from his job and if I got to work I have to pay for child care and we loose our health insurence for Dylan. His parents have made it perfectly clear they won't help us. My parents are helping as much as they can. So, no, I'm not materialist......I just want to keep a roof over my family and keep the lights on and the phone on. I want enough to be able to feed and cloth us and maybe buy Dylan an occassional toy.

I'm a tshirt and jeans kind of girl. A car is meant to get you from point a to point b not be flashy or a status symbol. Right now we are looking to buy a house, its not flashy but has 5 acres and needs work and it looks like paradise to us!
Fortunately me and my husband think alike in these ways.
I can't see spending money just for the "name brand". It started out like this at first because we didn't have the money and now that we have some more we don't see the need to go back to it.
I can't stand people who are trying to keep up with the Jones' or just want to flaunt what they've bought lately.
Pagans around here don't talk like that. They seem to be more down to Earth or at least remember that everyone goes through those periods in thier lives.

I'm just scraping by but we will be saving up to buy a cheap farmhouse. I have seen them as low as 30K and it will provide our needs beautifully. I figure we can raise things to cut down on expenses and live pretty simply.
