Tell when you've read a post? How can you mark a post "as read"?

I know that is you use the view new posts option and follow those message threads then the next time you log in they should be marked as read. I have tested that and it works. i am still learning quite a bit about this board. I do like the email feature. It lets you send email right from the board. Nice.
