I mostly use pictures for people, most of my charcoals I used pictures. Some of my stuff, I get an idea of the general shape from something else, a model, a statue, whatever and go from there (i.e., my dragon painting).. others, I have a person in front of me (like some of the sketches of Volos).

When you draw/paint or do any type of art work do you use a picture for inspiration or do you just do it from memory?

I draw from real life when I can. But a picture will do in a pinch. :)
But nothing is more fun than just raw from the imagination work.

Most of my stuff is from my imagination (or dreams). It's not very often that I'll have a model for a piece - it's been so long that I don't know if I'll actually be comfortable with it anymore.

I have used carefully-chosen photos because I use famous faces, BUT much of my best work has been done straight from my head. Even with the photos, I reinterpret it to fit a Pagan theme.
