View Full Version : Believing?

Is healing only possible on somebody else if they are open to it? My partner doesn't believe & so when ever I've done a treatment on him (he lets me do them sometimes) he always says he never feels any different!!

Maybe he does feel different but wants to be right(just kidding, well kinda). As far as belief goes it is definately enhanced if you believe. Maybe though he is so anti-energy healing that he blocked it off. I think it works as long as you at least believe in the possibility.

If he is not really much of a believe in energetic healing, my tendancy would be to conduct healings without telling him, and just allow the good effects to happen, wihout linking them to the healing- that way his own resistance to it won't block him from receiving the benefit. The more enegertic healing he receives the more likely he is to becomesensitive to it and start to notice it's good effects, but only if he doesn't discount his experiences with his conscious mind opnions first.
I have certainly conducted healings (including magick, reiki, hands on healing, distance healing, hypnosis, nlp and acupuncture!) on people who don't 'believe' - heck, I'm actually a sceptic myself, except that the darn stuff works!- and they have enjoyed feeling better, but adamantly refuse to aknowledge the energetic healing, and can even talk themselves back into feeling worse again, to prove their point.
Ultimately it is their choice to remain ill, we cannot force them to heal, healing can only happen with their permission, and if they desire to adhere to a rigid beleif that nothing can help, then nothing will.

A healer has, as far as I know, 2 ways of healing: either by manipulating energy, or by asking another (person, deity, being, whatever) to do it for them.
Either way, it works. The healer's belief strengthens the effect, but the patient's belief is of little to no concern.
I do agree with Sage Rainsong, though. Try healing him without him knowing on-beforehand.

It is possible for someone to block energy manipulation.

Yes. The process is called shielding. It takes practice.

Here's how I understand it from doing energy work for over a dozen years... If someone doesn't believe Reiki energy will work but is open to it maybe working, then it will work. If they don't want it to work, or if there is some lesson that they are supposed to learn from being sick or injured, then their spirit won't let the energy help them.
Believing and wanting are two different things, if that makes sense.

*nods* I used to do that when my sister's friend would try it on me. I was twelve, and it scared me. Ah, to be a frightened baptist...

Thank you for your replies. It definitely makes sense what you've all said. I don't know how I would be able to do healing though without being hands on. I do massage on him, so I guess I could incorporate it in as I move my hands around, but when I place my hands on him (say on his shoulder) and leave them there, he knows I'm doing it!!

Healing energy can be sent from a few inches away to the other side of the planet. It just takes a good connection and focus to send energy over a distance, we all do it all the time over the internet although some would say there is still a connection through one mouse or keyboard to the other. Some think it may work like sound waves for radio.
I had only been doing energy work for a few months when my ex came home from visiting our friend Grant one afternoon and said that Grant had hurt his shoulder and was interested in having me try to heal it for him. I said I would think about how to do it without being able to put my hands over him. About half a hour later Grant called to ask my ex something and just hearing his voice over the phone gave me a very good connection with him and I sat down and began sensing his energy and sending healing energy to him right away. He called later to say thank you, that his shoulder had begun to feel better that evening and had stopped hurting by the morning.
Yes, it will work to do energy work along with massage. I have a friend who's a massage therapist, and there are times when he does energy work during a massage. I'm not sure it's ethical to send energy to someone who hasn't asked for it, but sometimes I send it anyway, asking that if their spirit isn't willing to receive the energy that it will be used to heal the planet.

Yer I've been told that before about giving healing without consent & to ask their spirit guides...but that makes sense that if they are not willing to except it, that it should go towards healing the planet. Great tip Lunacie!!
