I have recently turned my thoughts to daily rituals or prayers. I am not sure why.. maybe as a way to jump start my day. So it got me thinking.. what do others do...

So.. do you have a daily ritual or prayer that you have partaked in?? Could you share some of it??

Thanks

I have a few daily rituals, mosty being meditation, grattitude, self edits and affirmation types. A lotof stuff is worked into my everyday routine so that I hardly notice it anymore- like my mini-Aphrodite rite that I do while doing my bath/face routine in the mornings, and thanking the Fates for my fortunes as they occur, concentrating on my healing and affirmation symbols throughout the day... stuff like that.

My daily 'prayer' is

"I am in control of my body and my mind. I choose to be compassionate and allowing. Nothing can sway me from the love of my spirit and the journey of healing my past. I take the position of my highest self and live that expression in my every movement until it consumes me and I beome my spirit in totality, for that is most important in my life."

Another I have recently picked up

"May beauty lie before me, may beauty lie behind me, may beauty be above me, may beauty be below me, may beauty be all around me."

Points awarded to anyone who knows the movie that came from :)

Mainly my daily ritual consists of meditation, yoga, pilates, and a prayer to Isis and Osiris for strength, protection and to thank them for thier love and guidance. But I also picked up a couple of chants/prayers from a friend, I'm not sure where she got them from but I like them...

Chant for the sunset
"Hail fair sun, ruler of the day
Rise in the morn to light my way"

Chat for the moon
"Hail fair moon, Ruler of the night
Protect me and mine until the light"

For a while, when I had time alone in my dorm room in the mornings, I had a short 20-minute ritual that I used to attune myself with the elements and to remember them in my life through my day. I had a small shrine set up on the end of my desk next to my bed, with a glass cup holding feathers, a red tealight cup, a large seashell (with water that I replaced daily), and a hand-thrown pottery cup with rocks I'd collected inside. I'd go through each element, getting tuned into it in whatever way made sense (holding the rocks, brushing a feather across my face, feeling the heat of the candle, dipping my finger in the water) and saying a short prayer to the spirits of each element. The beginning was the same for each: "Spirits of (Element), thank you for guiding me through my day yesterday, and please bless my path this day...", and I'd continue on with whatever I felt I needed to say.

I've been working on trying to think of either a visualization or some sort of very discrete and portable method of doing a devotion that I can carry with me in my day, because I no longer have any private time in my dorm room. I spend about three hours every morning in the library, so I've been trying to think up a practice that I can take there, whether it involves some sort of small "prop" or not. I do know that in the mornings, it's much easier for me to stay focused if I actually have something tangible to work with. I also want to gear my morning practice toward my deities, and it seems that what works best for that is spending about 15-20 minutes just journaling out my prayers and thoughts, like letters to them.

I have an altar for the spirits of my ancestors. Every day( or at least I try my best) I pray to them and ask for their guidence and protection. If you want to know more about it feel free to PM me

Every morning (except today -- chaotic day) I kneel before my altar, light some candles, and recite prayers of awakening to invide the Gods into the world. The one I say for Aset I got out of a book called The Mysteries of Isis by someone I can't immediately remember the name of. The prayer was written in Egyptian and in English. I don't vouch for the Egyptian correctness, I didn't write this. I've changed it slightly to suit with what I'm more comfortable in pronouncing and through what I've learnt. I personally recite the Eygptian version, becasue it sounds much nicer to my ears.

Nehes, nehes, nehes ~ Awake, awake, awake
Nehes em hotep ~ Awake in peace
Mehes em neferu ~ Awake in beauty
Nebet hotepet ~ Lady of Peace
Weben em hotep ~ Rise thou in peace
weben em neferu ~ Rise thou in beauty
netjert en ankh ~ Goddess of life
nefer em pet ~ Beautiful in Heaven
Pet em hotep ~ Heaven is in peace
Ta em hotep ~ Earth is in peace
Netjert ~ o Goddess
Sat Nut, Sat Geb, meryt Ausir ~ Daughter of Nut, daughter of Geb, Beloved of Ausir
Netjert asha renu ~ Goddess rich in names
Anekh brak ~ All praise to you
Anekh brak
Dua atu ~ I adore you
Dua atu
Nebet Aset! ~ Lady Aset

Djehuty's prayer I wrote myself (in English. I'm not up to writing my own in Egyptian yet). It's kinda long, but it flows nicely. I like it.

Hail to Thee, Great Djehuty!
Ra rises in the East to greet You
Hail Djehuty, Scribe of the Heavens
You, creator of language
He who gave words to the people
Rise, awaken, wise one and greet the day
Dawn is upon us, Ra rises triumphant once more
You who inspires me to write,
You who created the chemistry of Life
Lord Djehuty, Scribe, Creator, Alchemist
One who forged the world out of barren waters
Wise one who taught the sacred maths and sciences to the pyramid builders
Inspire me, Great Scribe Djehuty, this fine day
You who inspires the words that I write and speak
Hail and Welcome, Lord Djehuty
Awake in peace, oh Wise One
Awake in peace
May You be with me
May I be with You!
Awake,
Awakw in Peae, Djehuty,
And rise to greet the day!

Sebek's awakening I found in a overly large hardcover book on Egyptian mythology -- i completely forget which one.

Greetings to you,
Sebek from Crocodilopolis
Ra, Heru, powerful God
Greetings to you,
Sebek from Crocodilopolis
Greetings to You who comes from the original waters,
Heru Master of Egypt,
Bull of the Bulls
Great male being,
Master of the floating Islands

I have one for Bast, but it's pretty crap and i haven't had any inspiration for a new one. But, yeah, that's what I say each morning. In that order too. Aset doesn't appreciate not being first. They're all close to my heart, no matter what, and the order of the prayers has nothing to do with how much I love Them. It's just the way it goes. But, I have to stop now, cos my brother wants a cup of tea, and my cat presumably wants some food.

Thank you for starting this thread :)

It's very interesting what everyone does daily! I don't have much of a ritual, I spend at least 30 minutes every evening outside, usually meditating although sometimes writing. Just time to clear my mind and tune myself up and in ;) Although I'm loving lots of these ideas!

I love that one! It's beautiful!!!

Thanks. I feel it truly embodies Aset and what She's like. And the Egyptian just rolls off my tongue... It's almost like She's a part of the words. A very beautiful prayer, and I cherish it every time I say it.

My first ritual of the day is when I'm in the shower. As I do each specific thing (put in shampoo, wash my fleshy bits, put in conditioner, etc.), I infuse the action and the implements with energy to cleanse and balance my life as they do my body. In between, when I'm just standing under the spray, I honor the elements as they are embodied (for me) by the construction of a shower and a drain. It's a wonderful way to start my morning - and helps ensure I don't fall asleep in the shower! :raining:

My only ritual is performed daily. At 10 PM, with the lights out, I simply say, "Jupiter and Postverta, today was a good day [with variations if I've had a not-so-good day or feel like elaborating]. May tomorrow be a good day for me and for you." It amounts to consecrating time itself to the gods.

Every night I ask the higher power to watch over me and my family and guide us through another day and shield myself before I go to sleep. I would like to do more but I often forget.

DL of Air and I are so steeped in daily ritual that we built our business around it. Not so much altar ritual or prayer ritual but turning what you do every day, your daily routine into a ritual. We have a HUGE page on the site that lists ritual ideas for each of our bath and body products if that might help you get some ideas?

She's been with me all day too. I was sitting by the lake at uni today and I could feel Her everywhere. It was such a beautiful moment. She is wonderful, really She is.

I completely missed this, and I am sorry. I don't currently do anything particularly on a daily basis, although perhaps I should start. I do try to sit and meditate as a closing of the week. And when I end my weekly closing, I go over the good things that have happened and that I have done and give my thanks, then I go over the things that have troubled me and ask for guidance, finally, I go over the things I could have done better. I end it with the following statement: "These are my short comings. I will work on them. I am glad to be here."

Super extra bonus points for anyone who can tell me where I got that one from! :fishtank:
