Okay, I was just on a forum arguing with a bunsh of idiots about being Goth, I know it is a culture and has been for centuries, but was it ever a religion??? It is a stupid question, I know... but it is bothering me... because I really don't know the answer...

People were saying that all it is is music and the way people dress, but I know there is so much more history behind it...

I'm pretty sure that "Goth" is not a religion...I think it may fall under "style", but definitely NOT religion.

Aye.
Maybe your brain is trying to tie it to the Gothic period or style of Art and Literature. When they say "Gothic Church" they are referring to the style of architecture, not a religion :)

The Goths were an eastern European people many centuries ago. Gothic originally referred to their architectual style, which often consisted of tall archways and spiked fences that looked dark and rather haunting. Afterwards, anything dark and haunting was often described as "Gothic." There is nothing directly religious about Goths, though they may have been religious people.

Alright, thanks you guys. I didn't think it was a religion, but I wasn't sure. I was so mad at these people I was arguing with, because I know it is more than a kind of music....

One might argue that an immersive lifestyle is religious in and of itself. In any case, it is what you make of it, not what they think of it. If it is much more to you, then it is much more.
