View Full Version : Pluto transit interpretation question

Hey all.:)
I've got a doozy of a chart I'm working with here, that I'd appreciate an extra eye or two on.
(Fri Nov 30, 1979 11:00:00 (ST -7:00 GMT) Gallup, New Mexico 108ø45'00"W 35ø32'00"N)
The person in question is going through a real rough Pluto transit at the moment. Pluto has been conjuncting Neptune for some time, but has moved into a Saturn square and a Fortuna opposition. Neptune and Saturn aren't helping any either, but they seem to be lesser powers here.
Here's my dilemma: the planets in question occupy the 11th, 8th, 6th and 1st. They are also involved in a Yod, T-square and Kite. I'm getting mixed messages from this and not sure exactly where to put my delineation emphasis. Should I look more at the natal configurations being activated or at the Pluto/Saturn aspect (which screams stress and suffering).
It could just be my pre-tea mind trying to wrap around this, but I could use a pointer or two here.
Thanks!
K.

well, as a planet travels trough the zodiac, each house has 30 Degrees of the possible total 360 degrees of the complete zodiac...
that just made it worse dint it :(
actually, it helps to know if it is 10, 20, or 30 degrees into a sign because that helps determine the strength of the effects. (I think)
so we know if for example, it is say 25 degrees, then it is nearing the next house and it is quite posible to have "Spillover effects" of the next house.. sort of like a cusp? I am jsut guessing for the sake of clarification.

Hi, Keishin -
I tend to use Brady's rule that the most significant transits are where there's an outer transiting a personal - so transiting Pluto aspecting the natal Moon would score much higher than tr Pluto aspecting Saturn. However, I'd say this tr Pluto square n Saturn *is* significant, because both Pluto and Saturn are strong natally - the Saturn making a wide out of sign square to Venus, and the Pluto opposing the Moon.
Of course, by this rule, the Pluto/Fortuna opposition would be particularly important but I confess to not using transits to Fortuna personally, so I don't know how powerful they are.
So the transiting Pluto is triggering both natal Pluto issues (that Pluto/Moon opp) and natal Saturn issues (Saturn square Venus).
It's also worth looking at the technique where you look at the rulership of the houses. So, taking that tr Pluto square n Saturn, we have natal houses 8 for both Pluto and Saturn; the transiting planet is currently in the 11th; Pluto rules the 10th, Saturn rules the 12th (and the 1st if you use traditional or joint rulerships). So we have 8th house issues simmering away in the background prior to the transit; an 11th house issue is the trigger, and the outcome has a 10th/12th/1st flavour - for instance, a sexual relationship or an inhertiance triggers an argument with a friend or group, which impacts on career negatively because of hidden enemies undermining the person.
So my view is yes, you *should* look at the natal configurations being activated in particular, mainly because Pluto and Saturn are both outer(ish) planets so you need to see what personal planets are involved too. This is my view, and not everyone would agree that Pluto/Saturn transits are really only significant in connection with the personal planets they trigger; Rob Hand certainly gives a delineation for Pluto square Saturn in its own right, for instance.

That's the thing, from talking with this person, I think the Pluto/Saturn IS still a strong factor in what's going with them. They're going through a real "fix up life" time, especially around 8th house issues and the related emotional anguish that goes along with it (Moon again). They have told me they feel like everything in their life has been destroyed, and along with it any sense of safety, security or discipline. Frustration and the feeling of being carryng too heavy a burden are all what I've been told about this person's current life. If that isn't Saturnine, I don't know what is!
I'm not one to look back at the traditional rulerships of a sign (i.e Aquarius rising being ruled by Saturn), but with all the Saturn emphasis going on here, it kinda makes me wonder, if I missed out a bit there. Well, Saturn is pretty heavily aspected boith natally and in transit, so maybe that does it?
But yeah, you're right about looking at outer planet transits to the inner - I love Brady, she's so clear in her explanations. (I didn't get to her lecture, btw, but I did get a copy of her book, "The Eagle and the Lark", which I've just started :bigredgri ) I need to work with those some more.
thanks all!

Yes, I think it's the natal stuff that does it, and that's why I'd say the Pluto/Saturn *is* important in this case - the Saturn is square Venus natally, the Pluto is opposite the Moon. Is this Pluto/Saturn transit about breaking down structures for a great transformation? No - for them, it feels like destruction of things they value, and loss of security. Doesn't that sound like Venus and Moon issues - sure, the Pluto/Saturn is strutting its stuff, but what they're *feeling* is the Venus and Moon stuff that goes along with the Saturn and Pluto.

Fabulous book :D
Myself, I always look at traditional *and* modern rulerships.
Anyway - must get packing, I'm off on holiday tomorrow :ballonsmi

Thanks, Keishin! It was - I went to beautiful mid-Wales, famous for its wild beauty but notorious for its rainfall. I spent a week there, went on long walks every day (and a long cycle ride one day), and I didn't even get wet! There was a little bit of rain for an hour or two, but I was inside when that happened :)

Ah Wales. Rain and sheep everywhere :)
I went there in 2001 and loved every minute of it. Spent a week going from Canaervon to Betws-y-Coed, down to Hay, and then back to London. Delightful country!
