View Full Version : Gift or Curse

I honestly don't know anymore. Ever since I was little, I've been a virtual magnet for the paranormal. Dreams, visions, feelings, empathic, and it seems that spirits can communicate (and manifest) with me very easily. Around Halloween I blocked it out. I shut it down. No longer open for business. Physical life has just been too demanding and stressful, I cannot deal with the paranormal on top of it all. Some people say it isn't something you can turn on and off..you really can't, you can block it..but there ARE 'side effects' for lack of a better term.
Ever since I have chosen to block off that part of myself, I have been miserable. I'm cranky, short tempered, impatient, tired, have odd dreams, etc. I get these 'headache bursts' that are damn near unbearable. They come out of nowhere..it's a throbbing in my temples. It comes, gets VERY intense, persists for a few seconds...and then goes away. At first they weren't bad, but now I get them multiple times a day. I have seen the doctor, he has no explanation for them. I spoke with my mother, and she insists they are rooted in my decision to try and block out a part of my mind that I shouldn't.
Has anyone else gone through anything like this, or have any opinions on the matter?

My suggestion would be to learn how to properly shield yourself, and how to filter unwanted energies. This can be challenging, but it sure beats what you're dealing with now. Another thing I've realized, is that such abilities are what we make of them...if we think of them as a curse, or something awful, or unnatural, then that's what they will be to us. Adversly, if you choose to accept this as a gift and a blessing, and learn how to properly channel the energy, then it truly will be a gift. Its all a matter of how you manifest your energy. :)

Thank you :)
I never thought of it as a curse. It was something I just always had, and it never felt 'wrong' or like a burden. But mundane life got to be too hectic, and I just couldnt' handle it all at the same time. NOW it's getting to be a pain, that I have tried to cut it out of everyday life. It isn't just affecting me unfortunately. Hubby has been having some odd experiences and dreams, and keeps nagging me to 'let them get to you, because it freaks me out'.
I suppose it all boils down to what my mother keeps telling me, 'you can't fight who you are'.
Thank you very much for your kind words :)

Your mother is right! Fighting it will just cause you more harm than good. I agree with the shielding idea myself. Good luck to you.
Blessed Be!

yes, I have, try to block it it comes anyway. I guess I just can't block it all that well. But I still don't think it is a curse. But I am not one to tell you what to do.

I honestly don't know anymore. Ever since I was little, I've been a virtual magnet for the paranormal......... Some people say it isn't something you can turn on and off..you really can't, you can block it..but there ARE 'side effects' for lack of a better term.
actually you CAN turn it on and off without any real side effects. I have a few friends who like you are magnets for the paranormal. They read thoughts, feel stuff and see everything. However, the most crucial thing is that they have never allowed themselves to think that their abilities effect them to the point where, if they temporary turned their abilities off, they would feel "not quite right".
We often manifest our own reality. And if we believe that we are.... for example... ill and need loads of medication, we most likely are gonna make that reality real for ourselves.
I know it sounds like a lot of positive thinking... but truly, it can change your life. For instance, in the country where I live... it is literally a curse for people to be able to see spirits. It connotates bad luck and so forth. And usually, such strongly gifted people are identified with being sickly and unhappy throughout their life.
Hence, when such a person is denied his natural in-born ability either through an accident, luck (it just goes away) or the intervention of a taoist priest or bhuddist monk, he is considered lucky and blessed, and consequently his luck (in majority of cases) changes.
But, isnt it bad for psychic to be denied his ability? Well, a guy I knew who had his abilities taken away when he was a teen said that he felt it made his life calmer and more stable.
If you don't wanna get rid of your abilities, you can try shielding to block out stuff. But I think a more permanent solution is to "raise your energy-vibrational level" either through meditation or study of some spiritual path. See, like energies always attract like, and similarly, if your auric field has lot of dense, dark energies, well, you will tend to see and be affected by more of the darker paranormal side of things. A lot of dark entities have fairly low energy-vibrational level and are attracted to stuff like that.
Does this mean then that you have a lot of dense or dark energies you know nothing about? This may or may not be the case, as around 80% of people who develop psychic abilities later in life tend to see ghosts and lower spirits, rather than angels and beings of light. This is because a lot of us are not at a high enough energy-vibrational level to see the more beautiful stuff.
Well, unlike you, I wasn't born with the ability to see, and my clairvoyance only developed later in life. At first, I was badly affected by ghosts, dark energies and stuff, I would feel pain, weakness in certain parts of my body and etc....but as I attempted each day to raise my energy-vibrational level through active visualisation and meditation, I found myself less and less affected by these energies. Also, I made conscious effort to both shield and hold my boundaries. But, even when I wasn't shielding at times (I forgot), I was still pretty much okay when walking into a "bad" place.
With regards to being a magnet for the paranormal, well, from experience I'd say it has to do with something karmic. I am myself a magnet for the paranormal as well as witchdoctors, local medicine men who practice dark arts, men and women driven insane by magickal practices and psychics. I used to attract them by the boatload. I could walk into the children's section of a public library and find a psychic/magick practicioner/loony ex-magickian hanging around and they would wanna come up and talk to me for no apprent reason!
Well, later I found out that the reason for this was cos I had some really dark karma and it was hidden from me throughout my life, until recently, when it was revealed in my own meditations. Once I had cleared that karma, I no longer had strange people approach me for no reason at all.
I don't know if you are currently practicing any active visualisation style meditation to cultivate your energies, but if you are extremely psychic and are affected by what you see, and you are not currently doing meditation or energy cultivation, I'd really advise ya to seek out someone who can instruct ya in it. I have found this school of thought (http://www.ascendpress.org/LOLmain.html) to be particularly helpful if you want to raise your energy-vibrational level.
