I keep reading about having a safe room in your house, where you can seal the windows and have food and water in the event of a bio/chem. attack.

I was wondering if any of you have one set up or if you feel it is or isn't necessary.

We have food, water, batteries, etc but no room set up.

NO I DON"T

I'm going to start today though

BTW
your bathroom would probably be the best place b/c you can fill the bathtub with either drinking water or ice to keep perishables good for a few days.

I'd probably go to my b/f's house though, they have more room and If there's a chance I'm going to die..............I would want to die with the ppl I love.

I honestly hope it doesn't come down to that kind of warfare. But if it does, I want to die with those I love too.

You people are nuts. There IS no safe room. Safety is an illusion, and nothing more.

I would list all the things in the world that could possibly kill you, but I don't have the time and Mol doesn't have the disk space. However, just to placate you people, I will list 10 things more likely to kill you than chemical and biological weapons, off the top of my head.

Cars
Cops
Trains
Mennengitis
Heart Disease
Drowning
Dehydration/Overheating
Vending Machines (falling on you)
Hair Spray (inhaling)
Viagra (ingesting)

Thanks to darwinawards.com for the last three. Yes, those last three items have a greater chance of killing you than biological and chemical weapons, who have killed almost nobody since World War II. Devoting a room of your house just to move two of the items on the long, long list of things that can kill you a few notches down is really a waste of time. Consider that you can't even fully eliminate them, well that's just really really dumb.

I normally laugh at my sister when she runs out to the store to stock up during "emergencies".

But after this anthrax thing ( as isolated as it seems) i gotta tell ya....I'm gettin worried.

I never thought I'd be one to worry if we'd have enough to eat, drink, etc..........now I'm taking stock of my non-perishables.

Anthrax just SOUNDS bad. It's really not all that horrible. You can treat and cure it with strong antibiotics.

If you get really sick, go see a $@^!*@%# doctor, they'll diagnose and cure you. That goes for Anthrax, Mennegitis, Cancer, Mumps Measles and the Tarkalean Flu. Jeez people. Put some faith in the authorities, medical and federal alike.

Those of us in NJ have more to worry about from West Nile Virus, that's a lot harder to treat, and it's transmitted by mosquitos. I live in a swamp, with literally MILLIONS of mosquitos, so you can imagine my position :)

- Ill (actually Well)

After reading your post I decided to look it up...............The media has a way of making things seem, either worse than they actually are or less severe than it actually is, so I figured I would check it out for myself.

here's the link to some info on ANTHRAX (http://www.aomc.org/ComDiseases/Anthrax.html)
