Have you ever been on a search for a God/dess and was interesed in many, and then some God/dess totally out of the blue, that you have never heard of/or we'rent interested in, represented themselves to you?
For example, maybe someone is experiecned in the works of Kemetic Orthodoxy, and they follow the Kemet God/desses, and then one of the Aesir come to help just out of nowhere? lol
I hope my curiousity and fascination with people's encounters and Gods and stuff doesn't get annoying! This is my fave forumy place!!! :veryweird

Well, although it makes me blush a bit to admit it now, when I was first looking into the Kemetic pantheon I shied away from Aset quite a bit. All the sites I found described her - or "Isis" - as (what sounded to me) sickly sweet, not having much of a personality of her own, being overly 'motherly' - sounding like one of the coddling moms...and I had NO interest in her. In fact, I thought "she doesn't sound like someone that I would get along with very well, I'll keep looking for someone else, maybe someone less-known".
Aset got ahold of my attention not too far after that and I found out a LOT of the misconceptions I had were sooo off-base ;) Now she's been in my life for...wow...almost a year in Julyish and I'm quite happy about it :D

Sebek took me by surprise. I'd never even paid Him much attention when I was first researching the Kemetic pantheon. Then, one day, I was looking at this book on ancient Egypt I'd picked up at a second hand book shop and the page on the Gods. I looked at Sebek, remembered that day at the zoo when I had gone unwittingly straight to the crocodile exhibit, and it all fell into place. I heard a distinct, "Hey, I'm Sebek. What took you so long?". Yep. It took me a while. Now I'm glad I've got Him looking out for me. He's pretty cool, likes any kind of noise, music or otherwise.

The Holy Spirit. Here's the longish story:
My mom and I exchange back rubs on a regular basis, especially since I took a massage therapy class. In class, the instructor mentioned that the massage therapist's mood can sometimes "leak" onto the client. So, I started using massage as an active prayer, requesting calm, peaceful energy from my patron and passing it onto the person on the table. This worked okay, but comfort isn't really my patron's strong point. I switched to another deity from the same pantheon whom I didn't actually know all that well, but massage seemed right up her alley. By that point, however, my mom was my only "client" and the projecting petered out. I wondered if it was because my mom is Catholic and therefore under the geis of another divinity. So, one evening when she was under an unusual amount of stress, I tried drawing the Holy Spirit's attention to her instead. To my surprise, it worked.
The figure who appeared briefly but vividly in the prayer-meditation was a luminous woman dressed in flowing white robes. She was somehow beautiful although the specifics of her form and coloring weren't discernible. She used an anthropomorphic form, like my pantheon tends to do, but the general impression she made was quite different. She didn't say anything, just smiled and nodded, and I knew who she was. She didn't stay long either, only a moment or two. It was just enough to let me know that someone divine is there for my mom. :) That was a nice thing to learn, although I don't know if I was really worried before -- the reason I picked the Holy Spirit out of the Trinity was because Mom indicated that she had a connection to that aspect. When still Catholic myself, I virtually never appealed to the Spirit. That, along with the Christian divinity's reputed touchiness about us polytheists, made an actual encounter all the more startling.
Nothing dramatic happened afterwards. Kind of anti-climatic, but there's life for you. :tongueout I didn't tell Mom about this because my religious inclinations are a weird subject between us. Nor have I contacted any more divinities on her behalf. Should anything else come up, it looks like the Spirit is the one to go to, but I'd still feel strange about it.
Anyway, hope that helps your eternal curiosity, tigerlad! ;)

Yes, I have had that happen. Years back, when I felt that urge to have a patron goddess and become more specific and focused in my worship and connection, I read up on a bunch of goddesses, and since I have always had a thing for owls, that led me to Athena. For a while I tried working with Athena, thinking she must be the one, but somehow it just never really clicked. Then Artemis started popping up everywhere- pictures, books, conversations, tv etc, but I was so focused on Athena, that I didn't really take notice. Until, in a park about 200 m from my home a giant statue of Artemis riding a deer, was erected. Dang! I read up on Artemis and suddenly it ALL made sense, all the little pieces fell into place. Needless to say, Artemis is now a very integrated part of my life.

Actually, yes that did. I was worshipping and learning about Greek Gods, and then suddenly Manannan appeared to me in a dream. Needless to say, I love him :hahugh:

I've said this before, but it pertains to this thread, so I'll be redundant. ;)
When I first started out on my Wiccan path, with it's heavy influence of Old English folklore, I felt inclined to worship/study the Celtic and Norse deities. None of them ever spoke to me, or made any sort of connection, but I kept trying.
One night I had a dream in which the name Anubis was spoken to me from the sun. When I woke, I began to remember all the times I had seen His image throughout my life.
I have been devoted to my Father ever since. :heartthro

Well, a while back, I had a feeling some God was trying to get through to me. At first I was looking through various pantheons, but I was more assuming it would be one of the roman gods. I was considering Janus!
Turns out I've a connection with Loki... which was unexpected!
